    Namaste!

I’m Nirajan, and I live and work on my family’s farmhouse near the sacred Chhinnamasta Temple in southeastern Nepal close to the border with India. The environment is remote but peaceful. There are rice paddys as far as the eye can see, water bufflos gently walking by, people dressed in authentic clothing. Now you've got an idea of the scenery, but do check the pictures as well.

We have a small village on walking distance with a local market and small restaurants and shops. This is also where my lovely family lives! My farm project has only just started, but I dream of developing the surrounding land into a self sustainng organic farm.

So far, we cultivate rice, wheat, onion, ocra, mango, mustard, litchi and jackfruit. With us on the farm, we have some lovely dogs (always excited to welcome guests), chickens, ducks, geese, guinea fowl, pigeons, goats, a cow and fish.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

The farming opportunity you're reading allows you to experience rural and traditional Nepal. I will explain to you all practices we offer during working time.
Activities during free time can include celebrating Hindu festivities (we loooooove celebrations!!), a visit at the Chhinnamasta Temple, roaming around in the local village, lunch at my parents place, a dip in the river or a visit to the city Rajbiraj. I also offer guidance in meditation.

  • Help

    Help

We warmly invite volunteers to help our farm by feeding animals, gardening (ploughing, planting, weeding, harvesting), processing of harvested goods,(cleaning, drying in the the sun), catching fish, smaller building projects (from fences to a small stable (fill in extra jobs) or cooking (traditional Nepali cuisine with me :)). Since were a young farm, we also invite volunteers to bring their input.
Families with children from the village nearby visit our farm daily to help out. Because work opportunities are scarce in the area, we refund their work with our products and money sometimes. They're incredibly sweet people eager to work with you. Heads up: poverty is present among families here. This is why I decided to start a farm here. I want to grow food and create work opportunities for locals. You can help me in this dream and make an impact!
