    Description

    Hi!

We are Dorte and Thomas, and we run a small organic farm (7 acres) alongside our part-time/full-time jobs. Our farm is dedicated to organic slow flowers, plant propagation, and caring for our small herd of sheep and two Galloway cows.

We live in the beautiful Danish countryside outside of a very small village, surrounded by forests and a lake, and we share our home with two small dogs and a cat. It is an advantage, if you come by car for your own mobility and change to explore the surroundings. The distance from us to our capitol Copenhagen is one hour by car.

Our farm is based on permaculture principles, and we believe in working with nature, caring for people, the land and animals, and creating a balanced, biodiverse environment. Since 2020, we have been growing fresh flowers, including dried flowers and seeds.

    Who we are looking for

We appreciate volunteers who are practical, self-motivated, and have some hands-on experience with gardening, outdoor work, or DIY building projects. If you enjoy working in nature, can take initiative, and have a curious and open mindset, we would love to hear from you!

Tasks include helping with daily farm work, gardening, animal care, and DIY projects. Prior experience with gardening or permaculture is a plus. We also expect you to be responsible, easy-going, and comfortable communicating and working alongside us.

We prefer volunteers with some life experience. We also appreciate if you are a non-smoker and have no animal allergies.

    Practical Details
Accommodation: Private bedroom and toilet in our guesthouse. Shower in the main house shared via schedule.
Minimum stay: At least 3-4 weeks for continuity and a full farm experience.
We speak fluent English and are happy to help train your language skills.

If this sounds like the right fit for you, we look forward to hearing from you!

    Best regards,
    Dorte & Thomas

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are open-minded and inclusive, and we love sharing knowledge and cultural experiences with others. With years of experience meeting people from different backgrounds—and having traveled ourselves—we value the opportunity to learn from one another, not just across borders but also across generations.

Permaculture and regenerative agriculture are frequent topics of conversation, along with many other interesting subjects. Between the two of us, we speak Danish, other Scandinavian languages, German, English, and a bit of French.

  • Help

    Help

We need help with household tasks such as cleaning and cooking. In addition, we have several hands-on projects, including building compost systems, improving water installations, and making paths and access points more practical around the land. If you have experience with DIY projects or outdoor work, that’s a big plus.

You will also be involved in caring for the animals and maintaining the natural habitats around us, always with a focus on permaculture principles. We will guide you through the tasks as needed and appreciate your input along the way.

We live next to Lake Tystrup Sø, with a forest bordering one side of our land. We deeply appreciate the peaceful surroundings. The nearest grocery store is 3.5 kilometers away.

We offer rides to the train station and nearby towns, when we have errands to run ourselves. Public transportation is available, but must be booked in advance.
