    Description

We’re a small but tight-knit team, and we like to think of the hostel as a little family. The place is owned by an Israeli guy who fell in love with San Cristobal and turned it into a welcoming home for travelers from all over the world. We’ve been around since 2004, and over the years, it’s grown into a space where people can connect, relax, and share their experiences.

Most of our guests are Israeli travelers, but we welcome everyone with open arms. Whether you’re from Israel or anywhere else, you’ll feel the good energy and community vibe we’ve worked hard to build.

We’re not just a hostel; we’re a hub for travelers to explore the natural wonders of Chiapas, share stories over Shabbat dinners, and give back to the community through volunteer projects. The energy here is warm, social, and laid-back—but also full of meaningful activities and experiences.

Our team consists of a small group of friendly administrators who manage the reception, and a night guard who ensures everything runs smoothly after hours. Everyone’s pretty chill and always happy to chat or help out.

We believe in treating volunteers like family. If you’ve got a skill, a passion, or an idea you want to share, we’re all ears. Whether it’s music, art, teaching, or fixing things around the hostel, we’ll give you the space to bring it to life. We want this to feel like an exchange—where you give what you love, and we support you in doing it.

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Volunteering here is all about sharing experiences, learning from each other, and making connections. You’ll meet people from all over the world (with a big mix of Israelis), each bringing their own stories, culture, and vibes. It’s the perfect place to get to know others and dive into new perspectives.

Here’s what you can expect to get out of it:

Cultural Exchange: You'll get a chance to connect with travelers from different backgrounds, especially Israelis, and learn about their traditions, experiences, and ways of life. It’s a great opportunity to share your own story and learn from others in return.

Explore Chiapas: If you love adventure, you’ll get to explore the beauty of the Chiapas region. Whether it’s the stunning nature, the rich history, or meeting the locals, you’ll experience the heart of Mexico in a way that most tourists don’t.

Sharing Skills: Got a skill or passion? Whether it’s yoga, art, music, or something else, you’ll have the chance to share it with others. Plus, you’ll pick up new skills along the way—whether it’s learning a new craft or picking up some handy local knowledge.

Community Living: It’s not just about volunteering—it’s about being part of a community. You’ll get to know the team and the travelers, and there’s a lot of opportunity to connect on a deeper level. It’s a space where people look out for each other and support each other’s growth.

Personal Growth: Volunteering here will definitely push you out of your comfort zone in a good way. You’ll learn new things about yourself, try things you’ve never done before, and leave with new skills and experiences that will stick with you.

It’s not just about work—it’s about the exchange of energy, ideas, and good vibes. You’ll be part of something real and meaningful, and we’re sure it’ll be an experience you’ll never forget.

  • Help

    Help

We’re looking for people who want to bring their energy, creativity, and skills to the hostel in a way that enhances the experience for our guests and helps maintain the space. It’s not about doing routine tasks like reception or cleaning (we’ve got that covered)—it’s about offering something unique, even if it’s small but meaningful.

Here’s a list of some things we’d love help with, but don’t feel limited to this! If you have an idea or something you’re passionate about, let us know:

Art and Creativity: Help decorate the space, paint murals, or organize creative activities for guests. If you’re an artist or have an idea for a creative project, we want to see it come to life!

Maintenance and Handyman Help: Small repairs, fixing things around the hostel, or touching up paint. If you’re good with your hands, this is your area.

Teaching and Workshops: We’d love yoga instructors, meditation teachers, sound healers, or anyone who can teach a skill (like photography, cooking, etc.). We also love the idea of interactive cultural workshops!

Tour Guiding: If you know the local area and want to share your knowledge, helping guide guests on tours of San Cristobal or nearby nature spots is always appreciated.

Music and Social Events: If you play an instrument or enjoy hosting social nights, feel free to bring your music and energy. We often have music or events in the evenings, and you’re welcome to add your touch.

Photography & Content Creation: Help capture the magic of the hostel, the guests, and the surroundings. We’re always looking for cool photos or videos to showcase what makes Casa special.

The beauty of volunteering here is that we’re open to what you can bring. If you’ve got a great idea or skill, don’t hesitate to share it. It’s all about mutual exchange—helping out with what you’re passionate about in exchange for staying with us and being part of the community.
