Based in rural southern France, about 40 minutes from Bordeaux and in the heart of the wine producing region, Chateau is a Napoleonic chateau.
Our home also hosts a number of pets - both inside and outside of the chateau. We have dogs, cats, a parrot, chickens, goats and some beautiful peacocks that roam the grounds, helping to make Chateau a unique destination for traveller and staff alike. The chateau also boasts a swimming pool, a natural lake for swimming complete with paddle board and two professional standard tennis courts for those keen on keeping fit.

This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
The family is an English speaking family, based in rural France, so you would have the opportunity to improve both your French and English language skills. You may also be taught various skills.
The chateau is in need of help with daily cleaning, maintenance and restoration and we are happy to work with workawayers either short or long term. We are also looking for someone who can cook healthy meals for the people staying at the chateau. We are also looking for people with experience, plastering, tiling, painting etc..., We need help with general labouring with rebuilding an important part of the chateau - the stable block
Workawayers would have a bedroom and bathroom either within the chateau or in a charming cottage nearby. Food will be provided, and we tend to eat as a family.
The area is very rural so it is recommended that you have your own transport, but we can collect you from the nearest train station if you would prefer. There are plenty of vineyards to visit, as well as Bordeaux, Angouleme and Cognac all being less than an hour away from the Chateau. The chateau has wifi for residents. There is a restaurant and shop within easy walking distance, as well as a bakery.
