Help around the house
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
You will see who the local people live in Iceland.
You will help approx 4-5 hours a day. We are happy for these hours to be worked flexibly so that you can either do 5 short days or 2/3 long days and everything in-between.
The kind of activities you can expect to do take part in: general gardening, i.e. mowing/watering the lawn, planting hedges and flower beds, weeding and mulching, building a fence, building compost bins, preparing the garden for the following spring/summer. Basically, anything garden-related. Depending upon when you arrive, we might need help with building a patio/BBQ area.
You will also help the family with general housework, i.e. hoovering, cleaning, doing dishes general tidying up. And if you like to cook, you are always welcome to cook now and again as well. We are very strict with the hours you work. You will never be expected to work more than 4-5 hours a day and you are completely free every weekend.
If we receive your request well in advance of when you want to come :)
Bedroom in the house with access to all facilities. Full board and lodging in exchange for help in the house/garden
Reykjavík is the capital city of Iceland, lot of theing to do and see there, and, when you come home, exhausted after a day of sightseeing, you can chill out in the local geothermal swimming pool, which is open all year round, eat out at one of the local cafes/restaurants. If you come during the winter months, it is the perfect place for catching a view of the northern lights. Don't forget to download your northern lights app, so that you can be continuously updated on potential sightings!
