Description
We live in an old farmhouse in the foothills of the French Pyrenees, not far from the Mediterranean Sea and the Spanish frontier. It is a very peaceful setting, with no close neighbours and nature all around. There is a village five minutes away, with a shop, bars, post office and little school. It is a very close community with everyone looking out for each other and seems a hundred miles from life in a big city. However, the popular town of Ceret is only half an hour away with the coastal resorts can be reached in about an hour.
And had undergone many changes. We have lived here for three years and have had major renovation work carried out, but there are still many things to do, both inside and out (there is 1.5 hectares of land)
My wife is German and I am English, both semi-retired. We have both travelled a lot - hitching around Europe when were were younger, then further afield when we could afford it. We are always interested in meeting new people and sharing experiences.Types of help and learning opportunities

We speak English and German although our French is far from being perfect. I play a very average ukulele and know local musicians who play out open mics and jams. We a very familiar with the area, the mountains, including walking, cycling and local cultural events.
We always enjoy listening to people and hear and here about their experiences, young and old. There is always something to learn, share, and enjoyProjects involving children

Help
The house and land needs day to day maintenance, and there are some other projects work on: Building some steps outside, moving some steps inside, cutting firewood, general building work, general gardening. Nothing too technical, just common sense and care needed. Some things we can do together.

It is a big old house. Workaways will have a double bedroom with own access to bathroom and to the garden. There is alos a single bed in a separate room. Shared kitchen and dining area. There are is other shared 'office' space and other living areas, and plenty of room outside when the weather is good. We have lunch outside 80% of the year.
If you want to camp, there is a basic campervan or or w have a tent.
In summer, water restrictions permitting, there is a 12 m x 5 m pool.
For meals, we can cook, or share cooking, or whatever. We eat everything and anything but are happy with vegetarian food. What else ...
We are isolated. (That is the beauty.)
A car is useful but of course we can provide transport. There is a school bus to the nearest town.
There is a lot of history and culture in the area, some great cycles and walks, plus all that nature has to offer.
We like good beer and wine, local food. Smoking outside.
The only house rule is mutual respect.A little more information

Fibre internet is not arriving here until next year. We have a 4G Sim card router. It is OK for usual internet browsing streaming music or films. But will be too slow for games or uploading large files, graphics, video etc.
Space for parking camper vans
We have a parking space either by the house beside the road, or somewhere on else on the land.
