Description
Hello Workawayer,
We are a Dutch family consisting of: Paul 34, Harmke 31, Amy 3 and Julia 1. We are christians and live on a small farm of 160 acres in Dalen in the beautiful countrysite of Vest-Telemark, Norway. 3 years ago we decided to give up our jobs and move to Norway for a slower lifestyle. A lifestyle with a lot more nature, a little less crowded places, more time for family, dreams of self-sufficiency and finding healthier options for life.
Paul is educated as a teacher, but made a switch to carpentry and works now as a self-employed carpenter. In short: God, family, friends and then hunting, fishing and woodwork.
Harmke is educated as a psychologist but now fulltime mama and does most of the paperwork for Paul his carpentry. Harmke is a devoted mother and wife who loves to make our daily sourdough bread and always interested in learning more. Gardening and animals are her hobby, but as long as she can involve the girls she is happy.
Then there is Balto, Bjørn and Fantus...
Balto is our Leonberger of 5 years that loves the cold and hates the warmt. He still thinks he is a pup and loves to play. He is a good boy... the kind that eats half of Paul his hand when he is getting a treat, but when Julia (our youngest girl) gives him something then he suddenly is the most carefull dog in the world and will only use his tongue to gently get it out of her little hand. He is a real farmdog that loves hugs and food;)
Bjørn and Fantus are our cats.. they are both young but Bjørn is already a perfect mousekiller (that is also the job he applied for) Fantus is still an intern and learning the trade from Bjørn. They love attention and when the girls are playing to loud they will take a nap under the woodstove.
The village where we live is a special place with fantastic nature and great hiking routes and viewpoints. We regularly see all kinds of wildlife out of our windows, mostly moose, roe, fox and golden eagles (when we are lucky) and many more..
In the village 10min drive down the mountain there is everything you need for groceries, books, swimming and the almost famous sauna Soria Moria.Types of help and learning opportunities

Help
For starters, we would like to find a person who is willing to do some pet-sitting our dog and two cats for 3 weeks in March. We are non-smokers and as you would be living in our house for a few weeks we would prefer a non-smoker. Our dog lives outside and needs food, water (on winter days 2 times a day), some cleaning of his fenced area and some playing time. The cats need water, food and 2 times a week a clean toilet;) We only expect you to clean what you make dirty and have a good time enjoying the free time and space that our place can offer.
The locals have a term for the weather that is called "marchmeter" it means that usually in march there will be an extra meter of snow.. so you might have to do a bit of snow shoveling to clear Balto his fenced area in case of heavy snowfall.
We have very nice neighbors who you can ask to drive with to town if you are in need of groceries or other things...
We do need somebody who is capable of keeping a house warm with a woodstove or at least is willing to learn how to..Languages
