    Description

We’re part of a big farming family, but this Workaway opportunity is hosted by just our own household on the property. We love the outdoors, gardening, and making the most of Northern BC summers. While our home is located on a working farm, Workawayers will not be involved in any farm business or commercial operations. All help is for our private household - things like gardening for family use, yard projects, and upkeep around our own living space.
We stay busy with outdoor projects during the week and spend our free time kayaking, hiking, and camping in the beautiful wilderness around us. We enjoy working together, sharing meals, and creating a welcoming space where everyone can pitch in and feel at home.
We’d love to share our lifestyle with Workawayers who enjoy nature, being part of a family environment, and helping with projects around the homestead.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Life on our farm can feel very social with invites out to dinner, friends popping by or projects happening that we all pitch in with. We would include Workawayers in family activities, whether that’s paddling on the river or local lakes, hiking nearby trails, camping on weekends, or simply sitting around a campfire.
We’re happy to share what we know about gardening, property upkeep, and outdoor skills, and we’d love to learn new recipes, stories, and traditions from different cultures in return. Hosting Workawayers gives us a chance to see the world through new perspectives while offering you the chance to experience the beauty and lifestyle of Northern BC as part of our family.

  • Help

    Help

We always have a mix of projects on the go, so there’s a bit of variety in the help we’re looking for. Typical tasks might include:
Gardening and landscaping (weeding, planting, watering, harvesting garden)
    General yard and property maintenance
Painting, light building, or small DIY projects
Helping with household chores and meal prep
    Spending time with our pets
Nothing too specialized is required - just a willingness to pitch in, get your hands dirty, and enjoy being part of the family team. Some days are more work-focused, while others are lighter, depending on the weather and projects.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

The accommodation will be your own private bedroom, and you’ll share the living spaces with our family. You’ll have access to the kitchen, living room, and outdoor areas. It’s cozy and comfortable, with plenty of space to relax after a day of work or exploring the beautiful outdoors around us. We will always attempt to make the last meal of the day together, but food and snacks will be handy for grabbing breakfast and lunch on the go.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Although there is no transit in town, we have plenty of bikes for checking out the local scene, coffee shops, fashion stores and boutiques. We are all happy to drive you where you need to go. We are also connected with other family's with workaways that we will visit during your stay. During the summer the community has a lot of events, farmers markets and music venues for you to enjoy.

    Daisy (6 years)

Daisy came to us as a little runaway. Her origin is unknown and it was a miracle that she was unharmed when we found her, calling out late at night. She is a high spirited, cheeky cat whom Gatsby finds mildly irritating but he tolerates her like a gentleman. Daisy is a phenomenal huntress and loves the outdoors but she also loves a warm lap to curl up in.

    Gatsby (10 years)

Gatsby is a rugged handsome fella that enjoys the outdoors and is highly skilled in keeping rodents away. He is friendly and enjoys attention only when he chooses. He will often come with us on our daily walks about the farm but can usually be found in his lazy-boy chair on the front deck.

    Bazooki (12 years)

Bazooki is a mid size German Shepard x border collie that like to get out for walks and still will play tug of war like a pup. He is getting older so is not as fast as he used to be and has a hard time hearing.
