  • Description

    Description

We (Pierson 30 & Bridget 27) help run a sustainable family fruit farm in Hanover, Virginia; 30 minutes from Richmond. Bridget grew up near Washington DC, has traveled using workaway, and studied sustainable agriculture. Pierson grew up on a farm, has traveled, and studied education. His family’s farm has lots of blackberries and raspberries, and an orchard.

Last year we bought a house 10 minutes from the farm and we have lots of potential here. We’ve started settling into our new home and making plans for our spaces indoor and out.

We need help with housekeeping because we work a lot. There might also be an opportunity for a few hours/week of paid farm work.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Tour a sustainable fruit farm, enjoy the freshest fruits. There are plenty of Fall fruits after Summer is over!

Would be a good fit for someone with their own activities like yoga, reading, crafting, art, movies - there’s not much entertainment where we live, especially without a car.

Opportunities to meet locals. Eat plenty of local foods, shop at outdoor markets. Listen to new music.

Cooking dinner 4x/week, doing dishes, and maintaining a clean kitchen is the first priority. Vacuuming and laundry also. We ask to 15 hours per week of help with chores in exchange for staying in our home.

On the farm in Fall/Winter we might be able to offer work pruning plants or processing apples.

We want this to be a mutually beneficial and fun exchange for everyone, and we are open to discussion about help/work hours/tasks. Do you have a special skill that could benefit our home?
