    AVAILABILITY FROM late April

Our home is 4ha of rolling slopes and beautiful sunset views in the north east of Tasmania. While somewhat remote we're just 15 minutes from Scottsdale with all necessary amenities and about an hour bus ride to Launceston.

We love our spot as it is but hope to help it reach its full potential. Our dream is to create a beautiful and welcoming space to share with family, friends and friends not yet met. Not only an inviting space to peacefully sit in meditation or share a picnic or take a meandering walk, we hope it to provide an abundance of food one can forage around for.

To get to that stage there is a fair number of small and big projects to tackle and we so hope to meet some wonderful folk on our journey to create it. Folk who might leave their own mark for others to appreciate long into the future 🤗

We moved to Tasmania in Nov 2022 from Mackay region, Qld where we were for 4 years
Prior to that we lived in South Africa.

We've run rental rooms for many years and our favourite part is always meeting new people and engaging in conversation around the fire place or over a meal or just enjoying the morning breeze on the balcony.

    SOME IMMEDIATE TASKS :
We'll be planting saplings soon (one day to provide biomass, tree fodder & firewood) - we need to fence the sheep out before that happens so that's our immediate task.

With cold nights upon us - stacking firewood and kindling is a regular task.

Compost building is another ongoing task - prepping for the next growing season

I would love to plant a patchwork field of sunflowers next spring - if you like the idea you could help plan it. If the ground isn't too wet we'll till the layout, ready for planting.

Good with wood working? Our polytunnel doors have been hammered in the storms - they need a more experienced hand than ours for repair work. 🫣

The view site has hammocks and a chair, it needs some TLC so it's a more inviting space. I've got thoughts of a sheep friendly herb garden, perhaps a trellis for a grape vine. Your creative ideas would be more than welcomed.

We have a long list of projects to choose from - we hope you'll find one that appeals to you. We certainly wouldn't want you to help with something that doesn't inspire you 🙂

Pick one and work on it from start to finish or potter about and help me with the little things I always have on the go. We welcome either work style.

    DREAM PROJECT
Help design & plan (and one day establish) an extra large predator free chook paradise with coop and hot house, nursery, broody coop, multiple garden beds with medicinal herbs and favourite treats, nesting boxes and compost systems.

We have a comfortable room with queen bed and somewhat simple meals
Reasonable help with cooking & keeping the kitchen and bathroom clean. Strictly non smoking and scent free. 1 to 3 weeks ideal.
If you have your own camper van we're open to longer stays.

    Accommodation

Downstairs shared area consists of a bathroom with laundry, kitchen, living areas and a comfortable bedroom with queen sized bed. Relatively clean and tidy living is important to us and our property is smoke free and scent free (I use a diffuser with essential oils but happy to not use it if it bothers you)
Upstairs is our bedroom and private space.

Our cat owns us and the chickens (although the new chickens seem to ignore his self proclaimed authority) but we can usually keep him out your room once he's had a quick inspection of your bags.

Meals are quite basic and mostly vegetarian. Meat additions from time to time. Usually fresh eggs from the chickens if they care to deliver.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We live a mostly quiet lifestyle in a rural area with very little going on & rarely leave to go further than the local small town for essentials. Public transport is available but limited to a bus into and out of Launceston so you might want to combine your days off, hire a car and go sightseeing - especially if you're prone to cabin fever 😜 You need to be proactive and organise your time off for yourself.
