    Description

Our home is 4ha of rolling slopes in the north east of Tasmania. While somewhat remote in some aspects, we're just 15 minutes from Scottsdale with all necessary amenities and about an hour bus ride to Launceston.

We love our spot as it is but hope to help it reach its full potential. Our dream is to create a beautiful and welcoming space to share with family, friends and friends not yet met. Not only an inviting space to peacefully sit in meditation or share a picnic or take a meandering walk, we hope it to provide an abundance of food one can forage around for.

To get to that stage there is a fair number of small and big projects to tackle and we so hope to meet some wonderful folk on our journey to create it. Folk who might leave their own mark for others to appreciate long into the future 🤗

We moved to Tasmania in Nov 2022 from Mackay region, Qld where we were for 4 years
Prior to that we lived in South Africa.

We've run rental rooms for many years and our favourite part is always meeting new people and engaging in conversation around the fire place or over a meal or just enjoying the morning breeze on the balcony.

    AUGUST / SEPTEMBER JOBS :
urgent - I have received almost 30 bare root fruit trees which desperately want to go in the ground. This involves digging a hole and mixing in compost then creating a tree protector to limit possum damage - then of course planting the tree 🩷

We have a large polytunnel arriving soon and some extra hands to help build it would certainly make this job a pleasure.

SPRING IS ON THE HORIZON 🌱
As always I'm rather behind on preparing for the next growing season so help is required to get ready for growing the seasons food

    Mowing and brush cutting

    Weeding

Stabilising the steep slope between recently created terraces

Turning compost and building up the next compost and mulch pile

And of course filling seed trays

The chickens deserve their own oasis - if you're keen to clean up their area, create some garden beds, raise their fencing, build them a play gym. I'm sure they'll reward you with some happy clucking sounds and maybe some fresh eggs.

Cooking a couple of meals is always appreciated

The view site has hammocks and a chair, it needs some TLC so it's a more inviting space. I've got thoughts of a sheep friendly herb garden, perhaps a trellis for a grape vine, or borrow some bamboo from my nursery to create a bamboo hedge.Your creative ideas would be more than welcomed. If you're so inclined you could make this your sole project and just get a crack on it.

We have a long list of projects to choose from - we hope you'll find some that appeals to you. We certainly wouldn't want you to help with something that doesn't inspire you 🙂

Pick one project and work on it from start to finish or potter about and help me with the little things I always have on the go. We welcome either work style.

We have a comfortable room with queen bed and somewhat simple meals
Reasonable help with cooking & keeping the kitchen and bathroom clean. Strictly non smoking and scent free. 1 to 3 weeks ideal.
If you have your own camper van we're open to longer stays.

    Accommodation

Downstairs shared area consists of a bathroom with laundry, kitchen, living areas and a comfortable bedroom with queen sized bed. Relatively clean and tidy living is important to us and our property is smoke free and scent free (I use a diffuser with essential oils but happy to not use it if it bothers you)
Upstairs is our bedroom and private space.

Our cat owns us and the house but we can usually keep him out your room once he's had a quick inspection of your bags and his curiosity is tended to.

Meals are quite basic and mostly but not exclusively vegetarian.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We live a mostly quiet lifestyle in a rural area with very little going on & rarely leave to go further than the local small town for essentials. Public transport is available but limited to a bus into and out of Launceston so you might want to combine your days off, hire a car and go sightseeing - especially if you're prone to cabin fever 😜 You need to be proactive and organise your time off for yourself.

We have a spot for you to park up - although access through the gate is limited to smaller Caravans, RVs & camper vans / tents. Light vehicles only during the wet season. There's no absolute level spot on the property so you'll need to be able to chock a little
