Description
Our home is 4ha of rolling slopes in the north east of Tasmania. While somewhat remote in some aspects, we're just 15 minutes from Scottsdale with all necessary amenities and about an hour bus ride to Launceston.
We love our spot as it is but hope to help it reach its full potential. Our dream is to create a beautiful and welcoming space to share with family, friends and friends not yet met. Not only an inviting space to peacefully sit in meditation or share a picnic or take a meandering walk, we hope it to provide an abundance of food one can forage around for.
To get to that stage there is a fair number of small and big projects to tackle and we so hope to meet some wonderful folk on our journey to create it. Folk who might leave their own mark for others to appreciate long into the future 🤗Types of help and learning opportunities

We moved to Tasmania in Nov 2022 from Mackay region, Qld where we were for 4 years
Prior to that we lived in South Africa.
We've run rental rooms for many years and our favourite part is always meeting new people and engaging in conversation around the fire place or over a meal or just enjoying the morning breeze on the balcony.Help
NOVEMBER TASKS :
We have a very newly planted orchard which needs some TLC ☺️
- moving soil and compost
- creating mulch
- creating next season's compost
- planting out some flower seeds and perennials to keep the fruit trees company
Tasks for anyone feeling strong! We have many metres of trenching dug which needs composting and filling up in preparation for the arrival of some large bamboo plants
GROWING SEASON HAS ARRIVED 🌱
while we were busy with the bamboo nursery growing season arrived and I have a lack of beds prepped or seeds in the ground!
Help with planting out food growing stock would be amazing
There's always Mowing and brush cutting
Weeding
Stabilising the steep slope between recently created terraces and planting them out with some flower seeds would be lovely
Creating compost and mulch is almost the most important task at any time of the year
A SNEAKY BROODY HEN DELIVERED SOME CUTE FLUFFY BUTT CHICKS
and they desperately need a great safe space to grow in!
The chickens deserve their own oasis - if you're keen to clean up their area, create some garden beds, raise their fencing, build them a play gym. I'm sure they'll reward you with some sweet chirping from the young uns and happy clucking from the adults. Maybe some fresh eggs even
Cooking a couple of meals is always appreciated
The view site has hammocks and a chair, it needs some TLC so it's a more inviting space. I've got thoughts of a sheep friendly herb garden, perhaps a trellis for a grape vine, or borrow some bamboo from my nursery to create a bamboo hedge.Your creative ideas would be more than welcomed. If you're so inclined you could make this your sole project and just get a crack on it.
As you can see we have a long list of projects for you to choose from - we hope you'll find some that appeals to you. We certainly wouldn't want you to help with something that doesn't inspire you 🙂
Pick one project and help on it from start to finish or potter about and help me with the little things I always have on the go. We welcome either work style.
We have a comfortable room with queen bed and somewhat simple meals
Reasonable help with cooking & keeping the kitchen and bathroom clean. Strictly non smoking and scent free. 1 to 3 weeks ideal.
If you have your own camper van we're open to longer stays.Languages spoken

Accommodation
Downstairs shared area consists of a bathroom with laundry, kitchen, living areas and a comfortable bedroom with queen sized bed. Relatively clean and tidy living is important to us and our property is smoke free and scent free (I use a diffuser with essential oils but happy to not use it if it bothers you)
Upstairs is our bedroom and private space.
Our cat owns us and the house but we can usually keep him out your room once he's had a quick inspection of your bags and his curiosity is tended to.What else ...
We live a mostly quiet lifestyle in a rural area with very little going on & rarely leave to go further than the local small town for essentials. Public transport is available but limited to a bus into and out of Launceston so you might want to combine your days off, hire a car and go sightseeing - especially if you're prone to cabin fever 😜 You need to be proactive and organise your time off for yourself.

We were shown around their property & the jobs that needed doing, & were able to select the ones we wanted to do. We did a range of things - moving strawberry plants, uprooting a small tree, digging a small trench for some pipe work, weeding the veggie patch & going to Bridport to collect… read more

Unfortunately 3 hours prior to her arrival she let us know that she had taken an earlier bus, got to talking to someone else and opted to go home with them as the bus stop felt too remote and she was nervous.

Both were really welcoming that’s why we felt comfortable right away!
