  • Description

I am Alex Stevens Muwonge a social entrepreneur passionate about empowering young people to reach their potential. I do web and graphics design, photography and entrepreneurship training.

In 2016 with the support of Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship seed grant, I founded Design For Charity a social enterprise that uses ICT tools to empower other organisations so that they can embrace media as an enabler in achieving their objectives, We create digital solutions to the life challenges in Africa. We use photography, graphic design and web design as tools of empowering organisations as they communicate what they do while bringing about social change in the community.

Our core areas of specialization are Brand Development, Startup Mentorship, Digital Story Telling and Her Voice Fellowship.

As an evolving startup we seek a volunteer that can support with any of the following aspects; business development, financial management, social media & web development, photography training, ICT and brand development.

We have a network of other young people that have started businesses, so we would love to interact with a volunteer that can hold entrepreneurship and skills development for the other young entrepreneurs.

We hope that the experience at our business as well as meetups with other Ugandan startup businesses will help change perspective of African business startups as well as create opportunities of investment in Uganda for the volunteer.

We promise you a wonderful stay in our home as you learn about the rich Ugandan culture, great weather... tasty local dishes (Luwombo) and a beautiful scenery and animals.

We have a 3 bed roomed house, that is warm and cozy in a secure neighbourhood. We can give one of the rooms to the volunteers to stay there. We can host at most 2 volunteers at a given time. Our home is 27 Km from Kampala on Gayaza - Zirobwe road in a small town called Kiwenda. We shall pick the volunteers from airport / bus station and also drop them when they plan to leave.

There have a number of tourist happening venues you can visit, from cultural centers to historical sites, game park visits, bird watching as well as hiking within Kampala and out of kampala. We have a car, that the volunteer can use to travel around as long as they fuel it.

We shall spare time off to take the volunteers to attractive places that most foreigners visit. The volunteer shall enjoy true Ugandan cuisine (LUWOMBO) prepared locally at home and will also give them a few lessons in the local Luganda language.
