    Description

    Hello Workawayers!
We are Jean-Michel & Katja and we have travelled and used Workaway to find hosts ourselves for a long time. Now we are buying our own property with a house that needs to be renovated- So we can finally be hosts and offer work and accommodation to you ;-)
We love to have cultural exchange, inspire people and share knowledge. Thats the main reason why we would like to host people.

Of course we could also need some help with the house, if you are interested. Its an old timber-framed house in the small town Blankenburg in the middle of the Harz Mountains.

We also have two little girls (5 and 1 year old).

In general we are an open-minded and adventure-loving family with interests in sustainability.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

You have the opportunity to learn many new skills, e.g. alternative building, childcare, cooking, ecological materials and so on.
We would have most of the meals together and we would work together with you on most of the different projects.
Apart from the house renovation, we have some other projects we could talk about or show you to inspire you.
If you want we could do some trips in the area together to show you nice spots in the Harz Mountains.
We are always keen on meeting new people with differents interests and skills to get inspired and learn more about other cultures. We also hope to improve our language skills a bit (speaking/ learning english, italian, spanish and a tiny bit of portuguese and french)

  • Help

    Help

There will many different tasks you could help us with.
All the tasks will be done together with us or we show you at least how things need to be done so you can learn and develop new skills.
We also have a garden so you could also support us with that.

We also have two little girls (5 and 1 year old). So another possible helpful task would be
    - watching the kids (for a short periode of time while we are around as well - you would never be alone with the kids)
    - help us with cooking meals
    - help with general household etc.

I think there could be something nice and interesting for everyone in it. You could just choose the tasks you like most or are interested in most ;-) You can develop many new skills and learn in a fun environment.

All help is in our private home and garden and Workawayers won't be helping with any business-related tasks.

    Accommodation

There are three big apartments in the house. We are living in one of them, another one is rented out and the third one you could use until we rent it out again. You would have your own bathroom (incluidng toilet and shower with hot water) and a room with a bed.

During the renovation process another bathroom will be formed, so helper can always have a private room and bathroom.
