Description
Hi! To introduce ourselves, Ron & I, Felicitas, have worked abroad in exciting remote areas of the world for many years. We returned to our family cottage property located in Northwestern Quebec, just 25 kilometres away from the Ontario border. Over the past years, we have renovated the Lodge and its cottages, which are now being rented out on various vacation platforms.
The property is remote, located on the beautiful Lac-Des-Quinzes, Guerin/QC. Each of the rental cottages is unique, with its own style, modern amenities, and vast opportunities to make family memories. Guests can order homemade meals, fresh-grown herbs and veggies, and home-baked sourdough bread and pastries, as well as freshly prepared pasta varieties and farm-fresh chicken and duck eggs. All of these items are readily available in our 'Le Petite Pantry'. The property is well-maintained, and we strive to improve when needed. Helping hands are welcome, and we offer not only comfortable accommodation and good food but also good conversation and the chance to explore the remoteness, venturing out on kayaks or on foot to experience nature to its fullest.
We'd love to have some help around the property and are willing to pay for the support provided. Based on your skill set (e.g., carpenters, etc.), the hourly wage may be adjusted upward of the minimum hourly wage. We offer free accommodation and breakfast. We provide one family meal per week as part of a cultural exchange.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We’re Felicitas and Ron. We met abroad and, together, have travelled to many countries for work. Ron is originally from South Africa, and I am of German descent, born in Canada and raised both in Canada and Germany. Together, we have visited many different cultures and still today have contact with many of our friends around the globe. We both love meeting interesting people and enjoying lively discussions when we have shared meals around our big family table or gather around the fire pit, stargaze, and 'shoot the breeze'.
In brief, we’re open-minded and love meeting people from all walks of life. We enjoy good company, meaningful conversations, shared meals, and moments of laughter around the table.

Help
We’re looking for friendly, motivated volunteers who would like to help out, whether it’s:

-Gardening and homestead upkeep (chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, etc)
-Assisting with minor DIY tasks
We don't expect you to be an expert; just come with a helping spirit and appreciation for nature.
We'd love to have some help around the property and are willing to pay for the support provided. Based on your skill set (e.g., carpenters, plumbers, etc.), the hourly wage (minimum wage in Quebec is $16.10/hr) may be adjusted upward.
