  • Description

    Hi Everyone!

I’m Cindy, I'm part of a vegan eco-community in the south west Algarve, 8km from the nearest beach.
I’m just starting to work on the land and am looking for a helper or two over late December 24th onwards until 12 January).

A compost loo has been built, there’s the start of an outdoor kitchen on a platform and I’m busy working on a shower. There’s running water (solar heated - so a warm shower’s available when the sun’s shining) but the next job is installing a system with a hot water cylinder - so there’ll be hot water on tap very soon, hopefully in December : )

Other projects at the moment include finishing off dry stone walling for a well, gardening, and helping with woodwork (to finish off the shower, build a shed and for another platform).

I can offer you delicious plant-based meals and a place to stay in a beautiful natural environment. The land is huge (just over 100ha). There are several people already set up at their spots or in the process of building but everyone is fairly spread out on the land.

It would suit people who’re happy with very basic living in the heart of nature, who're happy to eat plant based while on the land, with an environmentally-friendly outlook and who’re motivated to get stuck in and help. Camping is possible (either with your own tent or one that’s available) but as it’s winter ideally you'll have your own van.

We're an international community, geographically about 1.5km from the nearest very small village (Pedralva), and roughly 10 km from Vila do Bispo. We'd have a chance to learn from each other about off-grid living, permaculture, woodwork, dry stone walling, and plumping etc.

  • Accommodation

You're welcome to sleep in a tent (either your own or one that's provided). As it's winter though ideally you'd have your own camper van.
We use ecological products eg soap/shampoo etc.
Electricity is via solar, we may need to be economical with power depending on how sunny it is.
The plant-based food will be shared and we can prepare meals together. If you'd like to buy particular items in addition to the food provided please keep them vegan. It's a chance to learn about living a plant based lifestyle.

    What else ...

We're close to the beach - if you have your own transport you can go surfing or to the beach (or join when we go : ) We visit the market in Vila do Bispo regularly and and drive to Lagos from time to time. You can explore the land, do yoga, spend time in nature, go swimming in one of lakes nearby or visit other people in the community.
