I had a nice time with Rosa in Marseille!
She is a good host and fun to spend time with. She took me around Marseille and is knowledgable about the city and French culture. I felt included in her family and comfortable staying in her home.
Nice meals and food was always provided and the exchange was easy.
Thanks Rosa for the good time!

… read more au centre aéré.

I feel very welcome in this family and this experience has been very positive and constructive for me. Adam was a very well mannered kid, always smiling and eager to play. Communication has been great, Rosa speaks both English and French fluently. Every time I went out with Adam to get ice cream or go to the movies, Rosa immediately reimbursed me

Michelle was the best workawayer. A very nice and cheerful girl! Though very young, she most positively surprised me with how patient she is and how well she handled my son who's only 5 years old and energetic. She varied activities and went outdoors as often as she could and when wheather permitted. She communicated efficiently with the child as
… read more her French is very good! She can understand almost everything in French.
She can adjust to a new culture and a new environment which is a great quality that allowed her not to feel homesick as I was afraid she would. She was really helpful and even occasionally cooked for us when I came later in the evenings from work. She could safely use all appliances like the oven which is reassuring when you leave someone at home with a child.
She also knew how to take advantage of the sunny weather in winter and of her stay here to read a book on the nearby beach, to visit the surroundings and of course the big city of Marseille which is basically at the door of Cassis whether by bus or 23 mins away by train. Though I was worried for her when she left for nearby Marseille, everything went well and she managed to be safe.
She helped with basic chores at home ... among others, buying the baguette at the bakery, doing laundry, folding Adam's clothes, cleaning the staircase, cleaning kitchen counter and putting dishes in the microwave after meals when I was handling Adam. She also occasionally gave baths to Adam who never complained and even prefered when she did, which relieved me a lot!
She shared about the educational system in Germany, life in her village, her childhood etc. so we always had something to discuss about during meals and outside when I had time to, because a child keeps you busy all the time.
I would definitely recommend her to any host family!

I have stayed with Fusia and Adam in January and I absolutely loved it.
Fusia is a really energetic and smart person. She´s traveled the world and can give insight on different countries and their customs, as well as a deeper understanding of the French system! What I liked most about her is her positive outlook and amazing problem-solving
… read more abilities. Those really gave me a perspective on how I can deal with my own life moving forward.
She also knows Cassis and Marseille very well and can recommend some places and activities to you!
Her son, Adam, is a cute and intelligent kid. He speaks very clearly for his age, which made understanding and talking to him extremely easy. Taking care of him was always fun, as he´s open to new games and concepts but also likes showing you the ones he knows and loves. Just 5 minutes from Fusia´s house you can find a playground, and a beach with a playing area in front of it, so there´s always something to do with Adam!
Another one of my tasks was bringing Adam to and picking him up from school, which was just 5 minutes from Fusia´s house. That was fun as well, since Adam was easy to put in a good mood, even in the mornings :)
Cassis is a beautiful town with many things to do. You could walk to the beach or start a hike alongside it, admiring the scenery. Or explore the local shops and sit down in one of many restaurants.
Additionally, there´s a bus or a train (both pretty inexpensive) to take you to Marseille where you can spend your days off.
I´m really glad that I stayed with Fusia as I loved spending time with Adam and being part of their family and I´m thankful that I got to see such a beautiful region!!You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
