Joel was a wonderful host - he has a cool space for workawayers , and it was very much the perfect travel experience (think meeting new, interesting people, elvis themed trailers, and an incredible view of the flat irons/rocky mountain range) and generally everything you want from a cool, unconventional trip! Was fun to do gardening or house jobs

He was very kind to me and also trusted me, glad to have made new connections and memories. Boulder was so easy to get around, wonderful place and Joel also has the BEST CAT IN THE WORLD, who is friendly and cuddly and I will miss her sooo much! Five stars goes to Perches the cat <3
Thanks again for evertything Joel, hopefully paths will cross again one day :):):)Left by host for Workawayer (Nico)
It was really great having Nico at the homestead and she was definitely a multi-position player. We worked together on a a few projects together prior to me having to leave on some travel, though she stepped in to do some pet-sitting for Ms. Perches the kitty while I was gone. I knew even before we met that she'd be trustworthy and attentive in

Hunter had a brief, though really productive stay here and I appreciate his know-how and eagerness to work on a variety of tasks. I'll confess that he came at a time where I didn't have a super well-organized list of tasks, though we were both able to adapt and figure out a game plan (including some time for him to explore the local nature and

I wish I hadn't been pulled in so many directions during his stay and we could connect more on a personal level, share some music, etc. though maybe at a future point in time and I'd recommend having him as a guest at other Workaway places too.
Left by host for Workawayer (River)
River's stay here was short but sweet. We both had some plans/timing that were up in the air, though were able to communicate adapt to get things to line up. She was eager to jump in on a whole variety of tasks and definitely has a great aptitude for figuring new things out (not just a one-trick pony with the chainsaw!), plus good forethought

The only questionable thing I can comment on is she can be a little overzealous about Pauly Shore movies, though that's generally easy enough to work around in day-to-day life ;-)Feedback

it was fantastic to have Meg at the house and, even over just a short time, there was a great exchange of experiences, stories, and cooperation. I have officially labelled her as the "Designated Dancer" and I think that captures her positive, outgoing energy and vibe. I feel like she really tapped in to the Boulder scene and we had a great mix of

I look forward to when our paths cross again next...

Upon returning home I have been able to begin to see the imprint that this stay has left on me. I have come back feeling confident, inspired and Open to the Adventures of life.
As it was my first Workaway, I was shy and a little nervous - to be staying at someone's home, and to be working alongside them on something I had very little knowledge of.

I found such Peace working in the garden, and excitement in learning new skills. I got to use an Angle grinder and make some delicious Tomatio Salsa. Meanwhile, exploring Boulder by Bicycle I was inspired by the gardens I rode past and the music events that were seemingly endless. Thank you Joel, for this experience. I will always treasure my time there with you, and especially Perches! And thank you for your patience and imparting of knowledge. I'll be sure to come back. Until then, keep building your dreams, remaining humble and kind. As we say " Hambagahle" my friend

Vladimir was a fantastic guest with a very interesting/international background and a ton of great experience. While he was only here for about 10 days (and sans Nikolina who I didn't get the pleasure of meeting) we got an amazing amount of things done - that includes projects around the homestead here as well as getting in some great music,

In addition to tackling solo projects, Vladimir always had good ideas to contribute when we worked in tandem and _I_ needed some supervision. I look forward to his next return to the area and definitely recommend him for any other Workaway stays!

Joel was an amazing host with quite some history and interesting background and a first person that I met that set his foot on Antarctica.

A man with many ideas and projects in his mind, that he wants to make it happen and transform his place into self sustaining oasis and homestead. I was able to be part of few of those projects and learn much along the way, especially about solar system, work with big flagstones, build rails and shelving system in his backyard and do various other project around the house.
In free time his roommate Jeff took me to few hiking's around the area and Joel took me to few live music events where I need to mention Gold Hill as one of the hidden gems nestled in the mountains and one of the highlights of my stay. We also went to a Trivia night, that was my first event of that kind and we won 3rd place... :)
Had a great time with Joel and will come back to check on his projects and progress next time I am in Boulder area!

Grace was a fantastic Workaway guest whose talents and abilities abound!

Don't hesitate to invite Grace for a stay at your place...though when you're done please send her back this way - we miss her!!

Joel was a good host! The work was easy going enough despite the heat, mostly moved flagstones around and assisted with other miscellaneous tasks. The accommodations were good, we went to costco and got food. The room was comfortable in the night and WiFi was good. The cat Perches was such a sweetheart. I got to explore a bit of the Boulder area

Nick is a fun and knowledgeable guy and was a great guest to have. He really jumped in to help with a variety of things and had particularly good insight about the garden and plants. The way it worked out he stayed mostly in his van (so that was very low impact) but he also was super-respectful and clean inside and outside the house. Additionally,

Kristin's stay at the house was fantastic! She had a (real-world) work situation that was very flexible and allowed her to contribute to many of the different projects. I had the most wonderful time in Boulder with Joel, his roommates, Matador (pup), and Perches (cat). We were both new to the platform as hosts/ workawayers, but I could not have asked for a better experience. The work load was very fair and doable, and I enjoyed learning from Joel about his implemented irrigation systems, garden, solar projects,

If you're eager to learn, are willing to say yes to invitations, and love being outside, this is the perfect Workaway experience/ host/ location for you. I hope to visit again in the future, and would highly recommend sending Joel a message if you're considering trying out/ expanding your Workaway experience. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

Rachel was a great Workaway guest! I think it was the first stay for both of us, yet were able to communicate and coordinate everything even as we learned the ropes of the platform.
