    Description

We have a beautiful, rustic life style block in Karekare. It's in the early stages of evolution but things are growing & we have the basics covered. We are putting in organic gardens using compost, worm farms & seaweed brews as well as putting in orchards & making nice spaces to bring people together. We run a business in garden & landscape, so can teach skills in this area. Prefer a genuine interest in gardens, permaculture, contributing & learning. There are stunning bush and beach walks in the area. This is a magical place with lots to offer those who enjoy natural places.

    Help

At the moment we are looking for help with:

    - clearing gorse and blackberry
    - clearing fence lines
    - digging drains
    - making garden beds
    - moving and making compost
    - planting fruit trees and ornamentals
    - planting up our water way
    - weeding and mulching
    - re establishing our chicken coups
    - processing wood
    - building the work shop and common area buildings

We are looking for passionate people that are interested in sustainable practices. We would prefer stays of two weeks or longer. This way we can share knowledge, get stuck into some projects and make things happen. If you are wanting a longer term stay of some months, we are happy to discuss this as well. We are at the beginning of a fantastical and large project. We have knowledge to share and practical projects to learn from.

The exchange is accommodation each day for 3 hours of work. It depends on the work we are doing as to how long we spend doing it. Some days we will be working together, some days it will be self driven as you continue projects we have started.

We have a indoor/outdoor set up which has outside showers (but super nice shower heads and amazing view), composting toilets and our kitchen is in an adjacent shed. It turns out that this is not for everyone. It is a beautiful but rustic set up which brings us closer to nature. We love it and enjoy sharing its magic with those that pass through (-:
