    Description

My wife and I with our golden doodle Tanny live on an island (Kennebecasis Island) in the Province of New Brunswick, Canada located at the confluence of the Saint John and Kennebecasis rivers in the southern part of New Brunswick on the Bay of Fundy. On our farm property we have an old farm house that requires a new exterior paint job, which I'm looking for assistance in painting this summer 2024 - June through Sept. Our island has about 100 cottages and is primarily summer occupied. Our property is an old farm property of 200acres, with farm fields, forest, fruit trees, honey bee apiary, vegetable garden, 2km of water front where we swim, kayak, canoe and boat.

Guests will be able to live in their own accommodation as a base and be able to go from there to explore Maritime Canada. The lifestyle is rual, country living - however our location is very close to the historic city of Saint John, NB, farmers markets, river systems, and the amazing Bay of Fundy which offers many coastal fishing villages, ocean parks, ocean kayaking, whale watching, etc.

Fun activities include playing with Tanny, water sports on and around our island, exploring New Brunswick and the Bay of Fundy...

We have an old farm house on our property that is in need of a new exterior paint job - this is the main work project. I (Andrew) will also be working with you on the project as, besides painting, there will be some work on the exterior boards and shingles of the house to be repaired. Some small adhoc help would be required around the farm as well but this will only be if time permits relative to finishing the main house painting project.

    Accommodation

We have two guest houses on our island property that one can choose from. One is an old farm house (Johnston Farmhouse C.1820) that is 5 bedrooms, fully outfitted and renovated to modern standards. The other is a new cottage (Crocodile Ranch) that has 2 bedrooms and a loft. Both residences have all the conveniences including a modern full kitchen and laundry, as well there is an outside propane BBQ. Food - I buy it, you fry it. Besides fully outfitted house accommodation all food as you like will be provided.

This project and Workaway housing provided would be more ideal for a couple as you'd be living in your own accommodation. Once the project is finished you are welcome to stay on for the season as you like. Also could take times off during the project to explore areas in the Canadian Maritimes Provinces, then returning to our Island and your digs to continue with the project.

The exact location of our place is on Kennebecasis Island, New Brunswick, Canada. Our island has about 100 cottages, however our property is an old farm property of 200acres with 2km of waterfront. On the island we have boats, kayaks, canoes and the water is good for swimming. Our island is connected to the mainland via a free government vehicle ferry that operates a number of scheduled trips per day which are a 15 minute ferry ride. Kennebecasis Island is in the southern part of New Brunswick, very close to the Atlantic Ocean and the Bay of Fundy.
