Description
Hi we are a retired couple living on a 180 acre farm between two mountain ranges, Rocky mountains and Caribou mountains. Bonnie has one of the largest lilac collections in western Canada. Most of the tasks here are easy, mowing grass, limbing trees, picking up after the winter and some painting. We are only one and a half hours away from Jasper, Alberta with some of the best hiking trails in Canada. We have lots right here too, for you to explore on your days off. Some of the wildlife seen on occasion here are, black bear, grizzly bear, deer, elk, coyotes, wolf. We are only a half hour drive to Mt. Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. The scenery is outstanding here as we live right along side of the Fraser river where thousands of salmon spawn in August.

This area is full of interesting people that you will enjoy, also other volunteers on family farms near here that are easy to contact. Bonnie and I have over 50 years experience in farming and animal care that we will share with you. Bonnie is a wonderful cook and can help you make amazing meals. In the summer we will take you to the local farmers markets to meet them and see some great home grown food. Curtis was one of a few Hummingbird bander's in Canada, Curtis has also worked on the salmon streams here on the upper Fraser river and can show you where to see them and the bear that fish for them. People from all over the world come to this area to hike and sight see at Mt. Robson. You will be sure to meet many of them on the trail. Jasper park is only an hour and half away !

Help
We need help mostly with, clean-up after the winter, April to September, picking up branches, grass clippings, cutting lilac branches and hauling things off with a Gator or four wheel Honda. We can teach you how to run them safely if you don't know how. Later on in the summer, some painting of picnic tables, wagons, part of a cabin and house sitting while we make a short trip . Usually we only take helpers for TWO WEEKS, this will give you a chance to enjoy other Hosts in the area.

Accommodation
We have a small cabin with shower and bathroom that is very comfortable or one of the colourful sheep camp wagons on the farm.
What else ...
There is a cabin in the mountains above us that is open to local people you can use, also cabins 20 km away near McBride BC. We also have bikes you can ride. There is an awesome hummingbird migration through the valley in the summer and other bird watching. Both black and grizzly bears are seen in this area so we will furnish bear spray when you're hiking. Farmer markets every week at Dunster, McBride, and Valemount. Jasper Alberta and the ice fields are a must see while you are here, we will do our best to help you see them.
