A small (10 room) family-run posada/hostel about 20 metres from the beach in the tranquil fishing town of Juan Griego on the Caribbean island of Margarita, Venezuela. We offer breakfasts during the high season, and we have a full size bar open to residents and friends, and we sometimes put on live music and DJs. We are 10 minutes taxi ride from one of the best beaches on the island (Playa Caribe). We also organise activities such as horse-riding, scuba and snorkeling, sailing and fishing for our guests, as well as offering trips to Angel Falls (the highest waterfall in the world), Orinoco Delta and Roraima Tepui. The Hotel is very highly rated by both Lonely Planet and Trip Advisor.

We are looking for at least one person who can begin immediately and make a commitment for up to 3 months to help out in all positions in the hotel.
We will give prime consideration to the following: people who are prepared to work as Night Clerk (for this, only basic Spanish is necessary – we have found that this post is ideal for someone who works online, is doing some studies or research or writing their novel, etc); people who can also offer general maintenance skills; and above all, to people who can start fairly soon.
We usually need help in the Reception, Kitchen, Bar and Restaurant as well as cleaning a few days per week when our cleaner has her days off. We are not a big busy hotel, so none of the work will be that demanding. For anyone interested in working in the day jobs, it is ESSENTIAL that you have at least an Intermediate level of Spanish. By this I mean you should be able confidently to have a phone conversation in Spanish. Fluent English is also a requirement. All offers from people with some experience in the tourism industry will be considered. We are a small, friendly and above all, laid-back place so we are looking for “Patrick People” with a positive and friendly attitude who are flexible, versatile and conscientious. Hospitality industry high-fliers should probably look elsewhere if they want to use a post here as a springboard to greater things!!! Beach-lovers with a fondness for good rum and cheap beer should really enjoy it.
PLEASE NOTE. Volunteers will be offering their collaboration in return for bed and one main meal per day (probably lunch). Other meals and drinks will be your own responsibility (although there should be some alcoholic perks if you are doing the bar, especially during gigs!!).
