Hello!

We are Edie and Baris, travelling since May 2025 and having such a special and enriching time. We have already had some incredible workaway experiences in Italy, Turkey and Nepal where we have learnt so many new skills in farming, agriculture and construction as well as living with different communities and building lasting connections. We are very curious about the world, meeting people, animals, being in nature, learning new skills, and spreading kindness and have loved immersing ourselves in new cultures. We hope to continue travelling for 2026.

We both practice yoga, meditation, and breathwork to stay mindful and grounded. We enjoy spending time in nature and going for hikes and swims (even in the UK sea in January!). We are both very friendly, social and easy going.

Our vision for this trip is to continue learning new skills, meeting new people, learning about ourselves and each other and welcoming new opportunities and knowledge into our lives. We want to connect with the natural world and support the local communities and wider planet as we go. We are open minded and very excited!

Our joint hobbies are tennis, swimming, hiking, running, sports, dancing, and cooking.
Baris particularly enjoys basketball and football, reading about world affairs, learning languages, and science. Edie enjoys wild swimming, reading, yoga, painting, writing, and social activism.

We look forward to connecting with you and we are open to questions and chats.

Both of us are currently learning Italian and want to continue building this as we travel. We are also both very interested in languages and want to learn what we can along the way! Baris is Turkish and fluent in English, as well as studying in French for 5 years.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Baris' last job was as a team lead at a global education company, and has been on various basketball teams in different countries for 25 years. I am very confident in social situations and working as a team, or leading a group. I am well organised and listen to peoples needs. I am pragmatic and solution focused and want to ensure people feel listened to and respected. I am very friendly and kind and warm hearted. I have the perfect skills for working on reception, helping run projects, running social media accounts. I thoroughly enjoy being outside and in nature and want to expand my skill set for permaculture and farming. I can take on physical work with ease and run sports projects.

Edie previously worked as a mental health worker and refugee volunteer and previously studied psychology. I can hold a safe space for people and communicate easily and confidently. I am patient, kind, sensitive, and warm & welcoming. I am friendly and happy to meet people and communicate well. I am organised and efficient and work hard, especially when this is in a friendly and safe environment. I would work very well on reception and welcoming people, I could support with running projects, and cooking and cleaning. I am also very keen to learn more about farming and harvesting and building a stronger connection with the natural world.

We both have had animals throughout our lives and really want to spend some time working within an animal care role. We also would like to find stays where we are immersed in nature. Camping would be a bonus! - we will have a tent on us. We hope to find some hosts that are working with the natural land whether this is foraging or farming.

We both have experience working with children - Baris supported children in an international basketball camp, and Edie does childcare work in the UK, and taught English to children on a volunteer programme in India.

We are both keen foragers and go for hikes regularly. We both enjoy cooking and keeping our space calm and safe.
