I spent a really great time with Nasim on my farm. It was early spring in the Beskid Niski region, when the conditions were tough, and he handled everything really well. He’s a young, very talented guy with very good apptoach to tge animals. He has a lot of skills needed on the farm, and always ready to do the job. He’s really diligent, great with animals, responsible and independent in making decisions. I even left him alone for a few days, and he took awesome care of the farm. I’m really grateful to him, and I hope he visits me again someday.

It was a real pleasure to host Nanna & Magnus. They are experienced traveler and workawayer. As soon as they set a foot in our farm they were behaving like they were here for a year. They are not only a people who are helping you; They are people with whom it is a pleasure to be, talk and discuss about this and that. Thanks to them and their friends Rikke and Peter who came here one year ago, I wanted to visit Denmark because if all Danes are like them they are people worth spending time with ;-) Nanna and Magnus will be always be welcomed.

I've had a great time helping here and would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in Alice Springs. I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in Alice at this point :)

Marcus and Santiago brought great energy to the house and were always positive, friendly, and enjoyable to be around. They took excellent care of Phoebe, spending time playing with her, taking her on walks, and showing her plenty of love and affection. They were proactive and always looked for ways to contribute, whether by creating a guest handbook, improving the garden, or building a newspaper bundling rack. They were respectful, considerate, and open to feedback and suggestions, and they consistently showed initiative and a genuine desire to help. Overall, they made a meaningful contribution during their stay and left several lasting improvements behind.

Natálie volunteered for a month at our Hostel in May of 2026 and was an excellent addition to the team. She worked as an event planner and host in the hostel and helped the reception out where it was necessary. Natálie takes her job and responsibilities seriously, shows up on time and always puts extra effort in making sure the guests have the best experience possible. She is flexible, communicates clearly and directly and has a lot of creative ideas she implements with ease. Her various skills were very useful in promoting the events, creating social media content and posters as well as keeping the guests engaged and entertained. We wholeheartedly recommend Natálie to any property considering her for the submitted roles.

I stayed with Irene and Bud for 3.5 weeks in May and overall had a very memorable experience. My first impression was very positive. Irene welcomed me warmly right away, while Bud was a little more reserved at first. However, after a few days I got to know him better and found him to be incredibly kind and welcoming. I stayed in a small log cabin on the property, which I really enjoyed. It gave me plenty of privacy while still being close to everything. The cabin had everything I needed, including an oven and sofa. The kitchen and bathroom were located in the barn a short walk away. I particularly appreciated having access to a washing machine and dryer. Food was handled independently. I cooked for myself, but groceries were provided. We usually went shopping together once a week. One practical thing future Workawayers should know is that there is no Wi-Fi available. Mobile data worked well enough for me most of the time, but if having a reliable internet connection is important to you, it is worth keeping this in mind before arriving. My workday usually started between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. with feeding the animals, including horses, cattle, chickens, ducks and geese. After that, the daily tasks varied depending on what projects were going on around the farm. The work was often physically demanding and sometimes repetitive, ranging from mowing, weeding and cleaning to moving heavy materials and general farm maintenance. It was not necessarily difficult work, but it could be tiring, especially on hot days when you might spend hours working outdoors. One thing future Workawayers should know is that the five work hours were taken quite literally. Irene was very focused on making sure the agreed hours were completed, sometimes right down to the last few minutes. Personally, I occasionally found the work organization and communication challenging. Instructions were sometimes unclear, and there were moments when I felt overwhelmed by being given multiple tasks at once while still trying to finish previous ones. Irene is a hardworking and ambitious person with many projects on the go, and at times that sense of urgency transferred to me and made the work feel more stressful than it needed to be. That said, the absolute highlight of my stay was the horses. Irene trusted me with them very quickly, and I was incredibly grateful for that. I was allowed to ride independently, choose my own routes, and spend as much time exploring as I wanted. I quickly found my favourite horse, Maverick, and many of my best memories from this Workaway involve riding through the beautiful countryside around McBride. The horses are well-trained, enjoyable to ride, and clearly very well cared for. If you enjoy horses, this is undoubtedly one of the biggest strengths of this Workaway. Another thing I appreciated was how much Irene and Bud included me in activities outside of work. They took me to local events, cattle-related activities, drives around the area, and introduced me to many people in the community. We picked up cattle, moved cows, attended local gatherings, and I got to experience aspects of ranch life that I would never have seen otherwise. Bud in particular always made sure I understood what was going on, introduced me to people, and helped me feel included in conversations and social situations. I really appreciated those efforts. One additional thing future Workawayers should be aware of is that Irene and Bud are very committed Christians, and their faith plays a significant role in their life. Their views are quite traditional and sometimes more conservative than what you may be used to. I think it is helpful for future Workawayers to know that religion can be a frequent topic of conversation and is an important part of daily life on the ranch. This Workaway is probably best suited for someone who is independent, comfortable spending time on their own, physically fit, and able to handle occasional communication challenges without becoming too frustrated. Personally, I would not necessarily recommend it as a first-ever Workaway experience. Having previous Workaway experience helped me put some of the communication and organizational challenges into perspective and adapt more easily. Overall, despite some frustrations regarding communication, I genuinely enjoyed my stay. The opportunity to ride so much, explore the area, work with the animals, and experience ranch life made it a unique and rewarding experience. I will miss Maverick, little Sparrow and the dogs Harla and Waida. A big thank you to Irene and Bud for their hospitality, for including me in so many aspects of their lives, and especially for the trust they placed in me with their horses, which was undoubtedly the highlight of my time there. What was meant to be just a few weeks became almost 2 months. John is the right guy for you if you want a good overall volunteer, good at delivering results, and teaching/transferring knowledge to other volunteers. All in all, thank you, John, for being here and helping us big time. You are welcome back anytime in the future.

Courtney was with us for a week and we did quite a lot into those few days. We worked on a buffalo shelter, built part of a small kitchen space, made a bamboo fence, did mud plastering, built an adobe wall and fixed a door. She was always ready to jump into whatever was happening that day. Outside work, we spent a lot of time wandering around. We walked to the river, explored the forest, collected seeds, looked for birds and insects, and had many interesting conversations along the way. One of the highlights was Courtney making tamales for everyone. None of us had eaten them before and they were amazing. By the time she left, it felt less like saying goodbye to a volunteer and more like saying goodbye to a friend. I really enjoyed having her here and I hope I'll see her again soon :)

Alice was a great volunteer and a pleasure to host. She was reliable, friendly, and always willing to help with daily tasks. She worked well with both guests and the team, maintained a positive attitude, and adapted easily to hostel life. She completed her responsibilities responsibly and respected our house rules throughout her stay. We appreciate her contribution and would gladly recommend her to other hosts.

Rah joined us for a month this spring. She was always very appreciative and helpful and eager to be engaged at farm. We found her to be a gentle soul, striving to make the world a better place, a companion to those who struggle. We appreciated the garden work, the meals she cooked for us, the conversations. Rah makes for a fabulous community member. We wish her all the strength an wisdom for the journey ahead.

Alain y Yovana son unas personas maravillosas. Me quedé un mes en enseguida me sentí muy bien acogida. No se trata de un simple voluntariado, sino de convivir todos juntos, y esta experiencia me ha llenado de felicidad. Pasamos mucho tiempo al aire libre cuidando de las vacas, del huerto, de las obras... Me encantó estar aquí, me sentía como en casa. También dedicamos mucho tiempo a cocinar y celebré aquí el mejor de mis cumpleaños, rodeada de gente y en un ambiente festivo y familiar. Nunca les agradeceré lo suficiente estos momentos increíbles que hemos pasado juntos... ¡Gracias por esta energía tan positiva, por las carcajadas y por todos estos momentos maravillosos! Espero veros pronto.

¡Me quedé dos semanas en casa de Andréa y fue una experiencia maravillosa! Para empezar, el lugar es precioso, te sientes muy a gusto allí, rodeada de animales... Además, pasamos todos los días con Andréa, con quien hablamos de todo, nos reímos mucho y eso también me permitió mejorar un poco mi español. El ritmo de trabajo es muy bueno, y también tenemos tiempo para nosotros mismos. Me ha encantado pasar estas dos semanas y me costó mucho marcharme... Si vuelvo a Bolivia, sin duda volveré aquí. Gracias de nuevo, Andréa, por todos estos momentos compartidos y por la buena energía que he sentido aquí 😍

Jasmine was wonderful in so many ways. She was a fantastic guest, did extremely helpful work for me and was just an all around pleasure. I hope to continue our friendship and get her to return to my home for a longer visit.

Melony is the most beautiful soul I've ever met! She is so kind and giving and has a lot of pride for her home and Hana. She showed me and my partner nothing but kindness. Work was fair and flexible and the experiences we shared were life giving. Hana is such a special place on earth and we are so greatful so call it home for a season. :)

It was a lovely experience living here for almost three weeks. Away from Chiang Mai, and even from the main town of Chiang Dao, it’s the perfect place to be! Mountains, river, small Thai villages around, bamboo huts, and the animals - peace, peace, and peace. I have always wanted to be around horses, and this was my first time feeding them, learning how to take care of them, and not to forget admiring their beautiful eyes and even longer eyelashes. They are so so beautiful! All four of them! And the goat with a stylish beard! Being around the pigs was a new experience for me as well, and they are really ‘cool’. One of them is very loving and lets you rub her belly for as long as you want. I spent most days with the 77 cats they have rescued, and each one has its own unique personality. It took me a while to learn who is who, but I think I can identify one-fourth of the cat population now. That one black dog I used to walk fairly every evening is a loving soul! I was beginning to understand her bit by bit as well. I admire the love, kindness, and hard work Marion puts into the well-being of the sanctuary every day. It’s not a one-off effort, it takes consistency, dedication, and of course guts to take up a project of this scale. And I admire both Marion and Tin for that! I am glad that I could spend some time in nature, in greenery, in solitude, and in the company of the horses! Thank you for having me.

I spent a week and a half at Tuvamila, and in all honesty my time there was a mix of both good and bad. Tuvamila is a large and beautiful property with amazing ocean views. It is like being in paradise. Mixing with the locals in the nearby village was a real highlight. The best part of my time here though was getting to share the experience with the best fellow workawayers I could've asked to meet. We had lots of adventures around the property and shared many laughs and great meals which we made together. With that said, it felt important to leave this review so that people who choose to go here will have a bit of a better picture of what to expect. The house itself is quite rundown (holes in the roof and the floor). The work was centred around doing repairs - sanding, painting, fixing gutters, cutting the grass etc. while local carpenters worked on the more important structural repairs. Expect an off-grid living environment (solar electricity and filtered rain water for drinking and washing dishes). There is no internet connection unless you have a vodafone sim and stand at one particular point in the house/garden. To save water, showering is not allowed in the actual showers, you have to use the water from the hose outside. The nearest town is 3 hours away by bus. None of these things were a problem for me personally but, as I said, it felt important to leave this information for other workawayers who might have different expectations. Unfortunately my time at Tuvamila didn't have a happy ending. Without any warning, the two girls I was volunteering with at the time were told they had to leave that day (Saturday) as they were due to leave on Monday and the host Elle said they weren't entitled to stay the weekend even though we had worked all week. This, as well as some other unsavoury comments and behaviours, was enough to make me decide to leave that day with the girls. So as I said, a very mixed experience. It's not my intention to leave a sour review, just to give a better insight into what to expect if you decide to go to Tuvamila. I hope the house and the property can be turned into what it once was. I highly recommend Danilo as a volunteer. During his time at our hostel, he has been an incredible help in many ways. He always takes good care of the place, assists our guests with kindness, and is always willing to lend a hand whenever needed. One thing that stands out about him is his initiative—he often offers himself to help without even being asked. He is punctual, responsible, hardworking, and always carries a smile, creating a positive atmosphere for both guests and staff. He has contributed so much to our hostel, and his dedication and helpful attitude have made a real difference. Any host would be lucky to have him as a volunteer. I want to express my deepest gratitude to Arianna. From her very first day, her enthusiasm for work and volunteering was truly inspiring. She went above and beyond her assigned duties by joining me to volunteer at a free children's camp. Arianna is a genuinely honest and sincere person who brings incredible positive energy wherever she goes. It was an absolute pleasure having you, Gina, and I truly hope to see you again in the future!

These 3 guys were sooo cool to have! They were lots of fun, super respectful and they absolutely helped us get through so much! I really hope you all have a great time with the rest of your travels and hope we meet again! Don't hesitate to meet them! My kids also really enjoyed their company and playing with them.

We had an amazing time with Michelle and Benjamin. They're fun, kind, responsible, with good energy and great ideas. We enjoyed their company, the stories about their life experiences and their country. Always up for new adventures, like hiking around or joining a random village party. We really enjoyed sharing stories, laughs, and everyday moments with them. They each bring something different, and it's wonderful to see how well they complement one another. We're grateful for the time we spent together and are sure many beautiful landscapes and experiences await them on their journey. We wish them all the best and hope to see them again somewhere down the road.
