This was my first Workaway, and Monica was a great host to start with. She is very kind, funny, and helpful. She helped me rent a car cheaply, sorted out cheaper ferry tickets and gave me general help navigating the area. The weather wasn’t great, but Monica always had suggestions for jobs we could do. She has a lovely garden with lots of things growing and some ideas for garden work over the summer. Rekdal is quiet but lovely, with some nearby walking trails. Thanks again, Monica!

Josefin was a pleasure to have around, bubbly and positive. We had great chats and she was so lovely with all the animals. It was a shame that we had experienced a major flood before she arrived, and the rain still hadn't stopped (very unusual for our area) so we couldn't have as much fun as we would have liked but regardless it was a very pleasant exchange. I recommend her to other hosts.

We had a great time with Roma. He was very polite, very helpful, and enthusiastic for everything. Roma is a calm person and he is able to communicate clearly and positive. He was great with our dogs We don’t forget him We recommend him very much

Jarl is an interesting and very knowledgeable man, especially when it comes to renovating his sailing boat. I only helped a little, but it’s a huge project and I wish him all the best with it. His home is beautiful, full of plants, with access to both the sea and a nearby forest. Bolsøya is quiet but lovely, with regular buses into Molde. Thanks for having me — maybe I’ll see you in Colombia ;)

I have been doing Workaway for seven years, and this has been one of my best experiences. Jean-Louis and Valérie are very kind, open, and generous people, and they are very welcoming to Workawayers. We had a great time together, and we shared life experiences and good conversations during my stay with them. They used to take short trips for appointments or business, and that allowed me to explore the neighboring localities: Lautrec, Albi, Castres... and meet their friends and neighbors. We worked mainly in the garden: mowing, pruning the wisterias, weeding... We also uncovered and prepared the swimming pool for the summer. The house is ancient, very well kept, with an inner courtyard and a big garden. The Workawayer has a very nice room with her own bathroom. There are peaceful walking paths... and the best boîte à livres I have ever found in France. To me, as someone who loves cinema, the best part was getting to know and learning from Jean-Louis's experiences. He has had a very interesting working life, and he likes to share it with people who are interested. I could watch his films and documentaries, and he told me about the writing, the shooting, the anecdotes, the contingencies... He is working on a clip for an organization for the defense of battered women, and I accompanied him to the shoots. I had the opportunity to spend time with these great people and get to know about their struggle to defend and empower them. The same with the clips for a political movement. Jean-Louis showed me how the editing of the images is done, the programs he use, how to coordinate image and sound, and the tricks to get the best work. Fascinating Jean-Louis and Valérie, thank you for the great time we had together and for everything you shared with me. A la prochaine, bien sûr.

Capucine and Thibault stayed with me for about three weeks. They are a lovely couple: hardworking, responsible and trustworthy. Also, very good gardeners and great with animals. They are both at university and have other skills (engineering and teaching). I feel fortunate that they stayed here. They were also very respectful and independent, happy to work/be on their own which was great as I was very busy. And also good company when we managed to do things together. Thank you!

We had a fab time with Kelly here! She's super welcoming and made us feel part of her whole gang of friends right from the off, cooked us some banging food (including loads of local king fish which is amazing!) and made us more tea than you could want for. We also joined in with the yoga that was on most days, and had lots of flexibility around work hours, and the actual tasks to get done, which made for an awesome few weeks on Little Corn!

Well, Giovanna e Adrian are a special and unique family. They are kind, so welcoming, funny, open to help you and suggest you places to see. They Always made me feel comfortable. The son and daughter are lovely as well and It was a real pleasure spending time with them. The house is very cool, sourrounded by nature, but close to the bus station to Murcia. I really recommend them 💘

Ute war 11 Tage bei uns und wir haben in dieser Zeit viel geschafft! Sowohl im Garten als auch im Haus. Ute kann anpacken und hat vor Arbeit keine Angst. Am liebsten arbeitet sie draußen, aber sie ist sich auch nicht zu schade für routinemäßige Hausarbeiten. Wir haben uns gut verstanden, obwohl wir nicht immer einer Meinung waren. Ich denke gerne an die Zeit mit ihr zurück.

Oh wonderful Alexa! We already miss you so! It was truly lovely to have your company around the farm. You came ready to work and did a fine job, even under the hot Tuscan sun, with repetitive tasks and manual labour. It was such a short visit but we shared many laughs, good conversation, and got a lot done too! We appreciated your adaptability, independence, and clear communication. It felt like we just instantly found a groove and a good flow. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you in the future alla Capanna.

Gigi and Driss were among the most senior volunteers we've hosted and certainly among the most hardworking. During their stay, they helped prepare growing beds, plant ginger and leafy greens, clear weeds across the farm, make pathways, paint the chairs and tables for café and assist with seasonal maintenance as we prepared for the monsoon. Gigi has a real talent for organisation and transforming messy spaces into clean, functional ones. And Driss is someone you can trust with any hands-on task. What we appreciated most about both Gigi and Driss was their reliability. Once shown how to do something, they took ownership and completed the work without needing constant supervision. They worked especially well as a team, motivating each other and consistently giving their best. Driss also contributed to our mural, bringing fresh colour and creativity to the space with his artistic skills. Beyond their work, they were wonderful people to interact with. Their love for hiking and the outdoors fit perfectly with life on the farm, and we thoroughly enjoyed hosting them. We're grateful for everything they contributed and wish them all the best for the journey ahead.

Animal shelter work can be physically and emotionally demanding, and it means a lot that you were willing to go above and beyond to help the dogs. What was supposed to be just my first Workaway ended up being one of the most incredible experiences of my life, these two months in Santo Domingo flew by and leaving is much harder than I expected. I met an unbelievable number of amazing people from all over the world, made friendships I'll never forget, and created memories that will stay with me forever. On top of that, I had the chance to discover the Dominican Republic, a beautiful country full of energy, warmth, and wonderful people. A huge thank you to Chris for always being supportive, clear, and helpful from day one. I also really enjoyed all the sports, conversations, and good times we shared together. A special thanks to Alessandro and Franco, who shared this whole adventure with me from beginning to end, you guys made these two months even more special. Thanks as well to Claudia, Thibaud, and Lucy for all the laughs and great moments along the way. Of course, thank you to Alba, Diana, and Fiquere for your kindness and for always making everyone feel welcome and at home. Last but definitely not least, a big hug to Hamilton! I couldn't recommend this experience more, if you're thinking about doing a Workaway, just do it. For me it was so much more than volunteering, it was an unforgettable adventure full of incredible people, personal growth, and memories I'll carry with me for the rest of my life. We had a short stay at the farm of Jorunn and Geir and enjoyed every minute of it. We felt very welcome and loved the chats during the meals. For us, it was part of a bigger trip and this was an excellent way to meet Norwegians and understand more of the history and culture. The meals were great, the work was good, physical farm work (expect some animal shit, of course!) and the hours were more than fair. Thank you, dear Jorunn and Geir, for the lovely couple days!

Anne Sophie est une personne très sympathique, joviale, ouverte et fiable. Elle est travailleuse. Dès le premier jour, elle a eu envie de se mettre à la tâche, d’apprendre et de faire. Elle a participé à bien des travaux, aidé dans le jardin pour nettoyer, planter, sarcler, débroussailler, semer, couper des ronces, etc… Elle est pratique, anticipe et voit le travail. Son envie de bien faire, sa bonne volonté, sa bonne humeur sont vraiment des atouts. Il fait bon travailler avec elle. Elle a participé aux différentes tâches de la maison très naturellement. C’est une bonne personne. Elle est de bonne volonté. Elle aime parler, échanger et apprécie les repas. Elle est très fière d’être du Manitoba du Canada. Nous regrettons qu’elle ne soit restée qu’une seule semaine. Merci Anne Sophie.

Very nice experience, super friendly , polite , open, flexible and structured. I got to know big part of their family and share lunch and coffee and chats with all of them. Nice , warm , understanding and good cooks! Lovely stayng a month! Hope to see them again! Highly reccomend!
