This was my very first experience staying with a host family, and I feel so incredibly lucky that it was with Romy’s family. Romy is one of the wisest, kindest, and most patient women I have ever met. She welcomed me with open arms, and I felt right at home the moment I stepped through the door. She was always so generous in sharing her stories and experiences, giving me great tips about Vienna and wonderful insights on life. Her kids, Elisa and Daniel, are absolutely lovely. The language barrier didn't stop us at all—we managed to communicate perfectly in our own way (a mix of my broken German, English, and plenty of body language, lol!). Together, we made sushi, went bike riding, played in the garden and pool, and even went to the amusement park, making so many unforgettable memories before I had to leave. Even though I only stayed for three weeks, I had the most amazing experience with Romy, Elisa, and Daniel. I highly recommend staying with this wonderful family to anyone looking for a meaningful Workaway experience. You will definitely love it here! Thank you so much for everything, I will miss you all! Dear kanoon and the entire team, Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to volunteer with you. I truly enjoyed my time there and felt very welcomed from the moment I arrived. The environment was relaxed, supportive, and never felt stressful or pressured. I was given a lot of freedom and trust, which allowed me to enjoy my work and learn many new things. I also had the chance to spend time with the team members, who are incredibly friendly, fun, and inspiring people. The hostel itself is amazing—honestly, it's one of the best hostels I have ever seen in Chiang Rai. What made the experience even more special were the family-style dinners, parties, group conversations, card games, and all the memorable moments we shared together. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a volunteering experience. You can contribute meaningfully, enjoy a wonderful community atmosphere, and still have plenty of free time to explore the nearby attractions and beautiful places around Chiang Rai. Thank you once again for this wonderful opportunity. I am very grateful for the experience and all the memories I made there. I hope to see you all again in the future. Thank you very much. ❤️

This is a magical and unique place, raj, as well as all the vollenteers do an amazing job making this a place where guests arrive for a day and stay for many more. It is an understatement to say that special and life filling things happened to me during my 2 month stay here To get more real abt my experience- during the high season you will be with a lot of people, organising events, going to parties, surfing and doing whatever comes to mind, and in the off season theres less people so you can really just hang out with the other volunteers, get close and do really cool stuff I will never forget my experience here, i have made many friends who i will see again there and would recommend thjs place to anyone wanting to live a little

Yanis was a wonderful, clever and perceptive person and soooo helpful to have his helping hands in the garden and carrying stuff….as well as using the post hole digger and doing a ton of weeding ..the hardest thing to do as a work a way! Worked his full hours willingly and we miss his gentle humour and beautiful smile.. May the wind be always on your back …happy travels in the rest of Australia….and hope you love the desert as much as we do….will be cold as💕

Marie and Heiu were both lovely guests. They worked hard and were always willing to give everything a go. We trusted them to play with our children and we would have them back anytime.

I had the best time with Ellen & Ricky. The jobs are various and interesting, the house is welcoming and the room in the shed is basic but cozy. I got to learn so many things and experience what it is to be free-getarian. Next to that, I met 2 amazing humans who have strong values and numerous stories to tell. No questions asked, you make the good choice choosing these hosts (and Edelweiss the cat)!

I stayed with Kiri and Zara for 10 days in April and May of this year. Kiri is a relaxed host who welcomed me into her family from the moment I arrived. We went hiking in a bluebell forest with one of her friends, took a trip to Cambridge to see the university and the river, visited her community garden, and enjoyed great meals and conversation at home. I had to keep odd hours because I was doing some work with clients in faraway time zones, and Kiri was extremely accommodating. Hitchin is a cute town and the town center is in walking distance. From talking with Kiri, I learned a lot about the U.K. educational system and about practices related to self-care and mindfulness. I recommend Kiri and Zara to other Workawayers looking for a welcoming and relaxing host family!

AK and Maggie were really good people to have as your workawayers. They had a lovely sense of humour and good work habits as well. AK was only with us for a short while as she went back home and Maggie stayed on. They took instruction very well and Maggie left their accommodation very clean and tidy. Sam and I really enjoyed their company and it was very quiet when Maggie left. She has a delightful laugh and a very happy disposition. We would recommend the two of them anytime.

Grace has been a great help and we wish her all the best in the future. Thank you Grace

Steffi was a wonderful lady to have around in every way. We became friends from day one and hopefully stay like this for ever. Thank you Steffi, you are always welcome back.

It was my pleasure having Ollie and Estelle on my farm. Ollie was a great companion and reliable helper always ready for new work challenges. They helped us a lot mainly with harvesting blueberries. Ollie joined us also for the run. Nice experience indeed. Thanks a lot Ollie and Estelle!

Hosting Amandine was a pleasure for us. This was her first workaway and she was very willing and cheerful with any task. We enjoyed meals together, her baking, and her calm helpful presence. We appreciated her thoughtful nature, her delight in simple local outings......acoustic night, Saturday market, and in the beauty of our quiet area...the kangaroos etc. We'd be more than happy to recommend Amandine to anyone and would welcome her back for a visit anytime.......

Nols volunteered with us for over four months, assisting in our Communications and Hospitality departments. His commitment of more than four months as a volunteer is highly commendable. He is disciplined in his tasks, flexible in the working environment, and easy to communicate with. His life experience gives him a calm and composed presence, and he is very understanding towards others. He is a solid team player who brings positivity to the team. His flexibility is a notable strength; he comfortably adapts to shared volunteer environments and connects easily with younger team members without complaint. I highly recommend Nols for any volunteer role, as he adjusts very easily to new environments and works really well with others.

Solo estuve una semana con Raúl y, sinceramente, fue muy poco tiempo. Desde el primer momento me sentí como en casa. Sus amigos y su familia son personas maravillosas que te hacen sentir bienvenido desde el primer día. Para Raúl, lo más importante es que todos estén cómodos, felices y disfruten de su estancia. Siempre está pendiente de los demás y se esfuerza para que todos pasen una experiencia increíble. Además, te integra rápidamente en su grupo de amigos, por lo que es muy fácil sentirse parte de la comunidad y vivir aventuras inolvidables. Yo quería aprender a hacer empanadas y él se tomó el tiempo de enseñarme cómo prepararlas. El trabajo es tranquilo y relajado; Raúl respeta la personalidad de cada uno y crea un ambiente muy agradable. Recomiendo este proyecto de todo corazón. Si tienes la oportunidad, quédate más de una semana, porque el tiempo pasa volando y la experiencia es realmente increíble.

Jacobi stayed with us for almost two months. He came during the off season when things were quiet, but he brought plenty of energy with him! He connected really well with the other volunteers and was always great with guests .. kind, considerate, and genuinely interested in the people around him. He’s the kind of person who keeps the vibe alive ..always joking around, always up for a good time, and somehow making even slow days feel fun. His passion for photography added a creative spark to the team too. We’d happily welcome Jacobi back anytime. Highly recommended!

Sidonie and Carpo’s farm is one of the most scenic I’ve ever seen. It’s filled with beautiful animals. You will be staying in a lovely independent cabin. I’ll always remember that night we had a bonfire, and Ant and the neighbor showed us The Dark Emu in the night sky, hiding among the stars. I’ve done door sanding, mulching, feeding animals, wood chopping, and other gardening work. Working on this beautiful farm is truly unforgettable.

From the moment Laurence arrived we just knew her visit was going to be amazing. We spent two months together and enjoyed each other’s company immensely, Laurence fitted in with us, our dogs and routine like we’d known each other forever. She cooked some fantastic meals, mainly French based and I will testify she is a superb Crepe maker!!! She cleaned, sanded, painted, learnt to use our ride on mower, chainsaw and all the garden equipment and did everything happily and up to an A1 standard always with a smile. We also learnt a few French words and so did Zoe & Pippa. Laurence, we miss you and can’t wait until you return before you leave for home. Good luck for the rest of your stay in New Zealand.

Cherrie stayed with me for 7 month. She has exactly the connection to the animals, how I like it to be. I could confide her my horses and my dogs a 100%. So that was mainly her task. The abused horses and dogs found more trust through her sweetness and love. She spend more time with them than me, what helped me concentrate on other things, like my business and the development of my project and solving upcoming challenges and problems. It is such an enrichment to have her around. I am looking forward for her coming back. She is really missed here.
