Umbria,🌿 Italy
Hi, I am new to hosting and I’m excited to get started! I have been a workawayer myself in France, Spain, and Italy, and I’ve been looking for groups, tribes, eco-villages, and co-living opportunities since 2017, as well as in Denmark, where I have been living on and off for more than two decades now.
I ended up saving and buying a little house in a hamlet in Umbria last October (2025). I am super exited about it!
The house is free on three sides. It’s a stone house like the others in the area, with 60 cm thick walls, for now covered with plaster.
This region is considered the green heart of Italy.
🌱 The project
I’m looking for two to three people to join and contribute to making the house and its little garden a welcoming place in the midst of olive groves, under the Amerini hills. My intention is to create a simple space, as harmonious as possible with nature, and I’m looking for people who feel inspired to be part of this process.
The house is currently mostly empty. I bought it last October, closed it, and returned to Copenhagen to work and save for the renovation. There are two bedrooms, a living room, and two bathrooms, one of which is very tiny but does its job. A little garden immersed in a olive grove and facing the hills covered by forest. Therefore, I’d say that for a comfortable stay, there is space for two to three people besides myself. There is also a parking area just beside the house, with space for a camper.
🍃 🥗 Simple lifestyle, mostly vegetarian food
About 25 hours/week in exchange for food and accommodation. There is flexibility in the schedule. For instance, you might prefer to help 8 hours per day for three days and explore the area the rest of the time. Food will be mostly vegetarian, and accommodation simple. Driving worawayer to the nearest bus station is also possible. More information about transport is provided further below.
♦️🪷♦️ This is not something formal, but a human exchange that can enrich both sides.
✨ I can also offer:
Support around wellbeing and quality of life, meditation/grounding, light yoga/stretching, and knowledge of natural food.
🌄 Location
The house is part of a small group of houses in the Amerini hills (at 400 m altitude), 3 km from a village.
– one side: open land, olive trees, and a family of sheep 🐑
– the other side: a small, quiet group of stone houses
– in front: an ancient well (from the 1200s)
– in the “piazzetta”: a small chapel
🕍 🫒 The area is rich in nature, history, and spiritual places (all within about 1 hour):
Umbria is the region where Saint Francis was born, in Assisi. It’s also home to some of the largest waterfalls in Europe, as well as monasteries and hermitages on hilltops and rocky mountains. You can go trekking in national parks like the Sibillini National Park, see the spectacular flowering between late May and early July in Piana di Castelluccio di Norcia, go rafting in the Nera Valley, learn how to find truffles, and of course enjoy some of the finest olive oil in Italy. And the food speaks for itself.
Among activities: 🎠🏞️🌊🧗🏼🚴🏼🤸🏼🍝
– hiking in the Amerini Mountains and the Tiber River Park
– rock climbing in Ferentillo (Valnerina)
– water trails at the Marmore Falls
– visiting beautiful towns like Orvieto, Todi, Amelia, Narni (with its underground city), Civita di Bagnoregio, Bolsena and Lake Bolsena, and Viterbo (thermal baths and historic atmosphere)
Assisi, the town of Saint Francis, and the Eremo delle Carceri in the forest are also within reach.
If this resonates with you, send me a message and tell me a bit about yourself:
What is your experience with manual tasks (DIY, gardening, building, etc.)?
What attracts you to this project specifically?
Have you had any experience with shared living or help exchange before?
How do you feel about living in a place with no phone signal or internet (at least for now)?
What kind of lifestyle are you looking for at this moment?
How long would you like to stay, and when would you be available?
Looking forward to hearing from you ✨
Cheers,
Veronica
PS. If you want to know a bit about my self, read below.
I was born (1968) and raised in Rome, but at twenty, I set off with just a backpack and spent eight incredible years travelling for the most in Asia. Six of those years were in Bali, where I immersed myself in the local culture—studying dance, music, and wood carving, and building a life exporting beautiful crafts, clothing, and jewellery globally. In the late 90s, I returned to Europe for a while, splitting my time between France and Italy, before finally settling in Copenhagen in 2000 with my daughter. In recent years, on the search for a community, big family, tribe I have been working-away (and woofing) in France, Spain and Italy. I find meaningful to be part of something bigger like sharing, creating, and contributing to the community and now that I've got a little country house myself, I'm creating the base for that meaningful type of life. I’m passionate about the environment, kindness toward all living beings, and fostering healthy, meaningful relationships. I love staying active and hands-on: cooking, gardening, caring for animals, fixing things, or simply helping wherever I can. I’m also skilled at organising, logistics, and paperwork when needed. Depending on the moment, I can bring energy and action—or a sense of calm and quiet. I’m naturally curious, open to learning, and always happy to share what I know. And sometimes, I just enjoy slowing down to soak in the beauty of nature.
I’ve gathered a variety of life experiences, practical skills, and personal qualities along the way. I enjoy organizing, simplifying, and helping things run smoothly, with focus on quality rather than quantity. I take pleasure in preparing healthy, tasty meals inspired by both European and Asian traditions. I’ve learned to adapt to different dietary needs—whether vegetarian, vegan, or intolerance-free—and I enjoy getting creative with whatever ingredients are available. For years, I’ve explored the connection between food and healing, learning how to tailor diets to support individual health needs—whether that means choosing foods to nourish and restore or avoiding those that might cause imbalance. I have a strong connection to nature and animals since I was a kid. I've had the privilege to spent lots of time in nature and with animals.
Over the years, I’ve also gained experience in social and health assistance, which has given me a solid understanding of age-related needs and the importance of hygiene standards, both in health care and cooking. I’ve also spent several years working deep into myself for self development, exploring holistic health practices, have studied, I am a certified and occasionally I contribute as:
Life Coach and cognive mentor - Supporting people in finding clarity and direction.
Ayurvedic Counselling - Offering simple, holistic methods to improve sleep and quality of life.
Circling Facilitator - Guiding mindfulness-based group practices to help people to get better at communicate, and to connect more deeply with themselves and others.
On a personal note, I enjoy natural living. I walk in the forest and pick mushrooms as well as herbs and wild fruits. On the seaside I walk and find inspiration, stones and shells. I like exploring new horizons whether is in music, ideas, different science matters, food, people. Occasionally, I make my own deodorants, body oils, and aromatherapy blends. I try to be a small consumer of Earth's resources, I recycle, I do my best in the environment I find myself. -

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
Only if you feel like it, it’s an option to start the day with a partly guided meditation (mindfulness), followed by some stretching or yoga sun salutations.
Dancing, deepening our connection and exploring different perspectives on lifestyle and values. We can exchange thoughts on communication styles across cultures.
Enjoy cooking (healthy, not healthy, delicious, own cretive recepies, Asian, Italian, and Danish food), and dive deeper into Scandinavian culture, particularly Danish traditions, and the main differences with the rest of Europe.
We are going to discover and participate in local celebrations and events—such as music festivals or community fairs, ad local street markets.
Take a swim in the Bolsena lake and explorations. -

Italian is my mother tongue, and I’m self-taught in both English and French, which I consider fluent (though I’m a bit less confident in French). I also speak fluent Danish. -
Unterkunft
I’m currently renovating two bedrooms, so they’ll be shared rooms with just one other work-awayer. However, if you prefer, there’s also the possibility to sleep alone. You can bring and park your van next to the house, sleep there, and still use all the home facilities, like the shower, cooking stove, and more. If you’re into a free-spirited lifestyle, there will be a hammock in the garden...
About 25 hours/week in exchange for food and accommodation. -

I’d love to give you a ride, but gas prices have gone up a lot. I can take up to two people if we share the cost of gas. Otherwise, I’m happy to drop you at a bus station so you can reach other towns. It’d be great if you have your own way to get around too!
