Welcome! We are a family of six: my parents, my siblings, a daughter, and me. We live in a small country house located at the foot of the Tungurahua volcano in Baños de Agua Santa, Ecuador. I am an English teacher at a school far from our home, while my parents and siblings work on the farm. Our daily life revolves around agriculture, caring for farm animals, and family chores. At home, we raise animals such as guinea pigs, pigs, and cows. We also do agricultural work, harvesting tangerines, avocados, and corn seasonally, and we cultivate tree tomatoes. We are a simple, hardworking, and welcoming family who would like to share our culture, our way of life, and the tranquility of the countryside with people from other places.
Bienvenidos! Somos una familia de seis integrantes: mis padres, mis hermanos, una niña y yo. Vivimos en una pequeña casa de campo ubicada a las faldas del volcán Tungurahua, en Baños de Agua Santa, Ecuador.
Yo soy profesora de inglés en una escuela lejana de mi casa, mientras que mis padres y hermanos se dedican a las actividades del campo. Nuestra vida diaria está relacionada con la agricultura, el cuidado de animales de granja y las labores familiares.
En nuestra casa cuidamos animales como cuyes, cerdos y vacas, también realizamos actividades agrícolas como cosechar mandarinas , aguacates, maíz por temporadas del año, nos dedicamos a la producción de tomate de árbol. Somos una familia sencilla, trabajadora y acogedora, que desea compartir su cultura, su forma de vida y la tranquilidad del campo con personas de otros lugares.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to experience authentic culture with a local family in the countryside. They will learn about rural life in Ecuador, caring for farm animals, family farming, and harvesting seasonal produce such as tangerines, avocados, and tree tomatoes. They will also have the chance to practice their Spanish in everyday life and share their language, culture, and experiences with our family and children in the community. Furthermore, they will learn about local customs, traditional home-cooked meals, and the tranquility of living near the Tungurahua volcano. This exchange will allow them to learn, help, share, and experience a simple, family-oriented way of life connected to nature.
Los voluntarios podrán vivir una experiencia cultural auténtica con una familia local en el campo. Aprenderán sobre la vida rural en Ecuador, el cuidado de animales de granja, la agricultura familiar y la cosecha de productos de temporada como mandarinas, aguacates y tomate de árbol.
También podrán practicar español en la vida diaria y compartir su idioma, cultura y experiencias con nuestra familia y con niños de la comunidad. Además, conocerán costumbres locales, comida tradicional preparada en casa y la tranquilidad de vivir cerca del volcán Tungurahua.
Este intercambio les permitirá aprender, ayudar, compartir y conocer una forma de vida sencilla, familiar y conectada con la naturaleza.

Arbeit
Volunteers will primarily assist with simple daily tasks on the farm. The day begins early with caring for the farm animals, such as guinea pigs and pigs. Afterward, they can enjoy a delicious homemade breakfast prepared by our family. During the morning, volunteers will help with various agricultural activities, such as harvesting tangerines, avocados, tree tomatoes, and other seasonal produce, as well as assisting with other small farm chores. On some days, volunteers may also accompany me to the school to help with English classes for the children. The assistance will always be provided in a respectful, family-like, and organized environment. Volunteers will work until noon, for a maximum of 5 hours per day, 5 days a week. Weekends will be free for rest, exploring Baños de Agua Santa, or pursuing personal activities.
Los voluntarios ayudarán principalmente en actividades sencillas de la vida diaria en el campo. El día empieza temprano con el cuidado de los animales de la granja, como cuyes y cerdos. Después, podrán disfrutar de un buen desayuno casero preparado por nuestra familia.
Durante la mañana, los voluntarios apoyarán en diferentes actividades agrícolas, como cosechar mandarinas, aguacates, tomate de árbol u otros productos de temporada, además de colaborar en pequeñas tareas del campo.
Algunos días, los voluntarios también podrán acompañarme a la escuela para apoyar en las clases de inglés con los niños. La ayuda será siempre en un ambiente respetuoso, familiar y organizado.
La ayuda será hasta el mediodía, con un máximo de 5 horas al día, 5 días a la semana. Los fines de semana serán libres para descansar, conocer Baños de Agua Santa o realizar actividades personales.

Volunteers will have a private room, not shared with others. The bathroom and shower will be shared with the family. They can also use the washing machine when needed or wash their clothes by hand. They will have access to the kitchen and can share homemade meals with us, prepared with farm produce and typical local ingredients. Our home is a simple country house, located near the Tungurahua volcano, surrounded by nature, crops, and animals. We offer a peaceful and welcoming family atmosphere for those who wish to experience authentic rural life.
Los voluntarios tendrán una habitación privada, que no será compartida con otras personas. El baño y la ducha serán de uso compartido con la familia.
También podrán usar la lavadora cuando sea necesario o lavar su ropa a mano. Tendrán acceso a la cocina y podrán compartir con nosotros comida casera preparada con productos de la granja y alimentos típicos de la zona.
Nuestro hogar es una casa sencilla de campo, ubicada cerca del volcán Tungurahua, rodeada de naturaleza, cultivos y animales. Ofrecemos un ambiente familiar, tranquilo y acogedor para quienes deseen vivir una experiencia rural auténtica.

Our house is located in a rural area near the Tungurahua volcano, so we recommend that volunteers bring comfortable clothing suitable for the countryside, appropriate shoes for walking or working in the fields, a jacket for the cold, and clothes that can get dirty during agricultural activities. The weather can change throughout the day, with cool mornings and periods of sunshine or rain. We also recommend bringing personal items, sunscreen, insect repellent, and an open attitude to share with a local family. Life in the countryside is simple and peaceful. Volunteers should be comfortable living with animals, participating in rural activities, and adapting to a family routine. On free weekends, volunteers can visit Baños de Agua Santa, a tourist destination surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, and nature. In the town and its surroundings, you can enjoy activities such as visiting waterfalls, hiking along nature trails, relaxing in hot springs, exploring viewpoints, sampling local cuisine, and participating in adventure sports like cycling, zip-lining, rafting, or riding on tourist swings. This place is ideal for those who want to live a cultural, natural and peaceful experience, combining country life with the opportunity to explore one of the most visited destinations in Ecuador.
Nuestra casa está ubicada en una zona rural cerca del volcán Tungurahua, por lo que recomendamos a los voluntarios traer ropa cómoda para el campo, zapatos adecuados para caminar o trabajar en la tierra, una chaqueta para el frío y ropa que puedan ensuciar durante las actividades agrícolas.
El clima puede cambiar durante el día, con mañanas frescas y momentos de sol o lluvia. También recomendamos traer artículos personales, protector solar, repelente de insectos y una actitud abierta para compartir con una familia local.
La vida en el campo es sencilla y tranquila. Los voluntarios deben sentirse cómodos conviviendo con animales, participando en actividades rurales y adaptándose a una rutina familiar.
Durante los fines de semana libres, los voluntarios podrán conocer Baños de Agua Santa, un lugar turístico rodeado de montañas, cascadas y naturaleza. En la ciudad y sus alrededores se pueden realizar actividades como visitar cascadas, caminar por senderos naturales, disfrutar de aguas termales, conocer miradores, probar comida local y realizar deportes de aventura como ciclismo, canopy, rafting o paseos en columpios turísticos.
Este lugar es ideal para quienes desean vivir una experiencia cultural, natural y tranquila, combinando la vida del campo con la oportunidad de explorar uno de los destinos más visitados de Ecuador.
