  The Blue Farm project has been on its way for 10 years.
  Throughout the 10 years we've aquired several skills at living in the land, and are still experimenting. One thing is ceratain: the notion of a "farm" is not so simple. Especially not in Europe, not in Central-Europe, not in the Carpathian Basin. There are several forms of living in the land, that have developed throughout hundreds, and even thousands of years. What we have formed on the Blue Farm project is an estate where several forms of living by the land can be experimented and practiced.
  
  The VÁTÉSZ NFE - Folkschool Organisation was formed for this reason of experimenting by living by the land in the Southern Great Hungarian Plains, and is part of a Hungarian National network throughout the Carpathian Basin. Sadly most of the population has emigrated from the South Hungarian Plains', so many practical hurdles, especially in the countryside are serious tasks to overtake. This now however also must be accepted as a present situation that is a part of living locally.
  
  Throughout the years we have experimented with many forms of gardening beside animal husbandry. We experimented with many vegetables, onions and planted many fruit trees. Many of the fruit trees failed to thrive - and in this case we learned that there are foreign species, that are not fit for this environment. Goats, Racka sheep, mangalica, donkeys, cattle, horses, poultry have all been tried. Of these cattle, horse, and poultry are the best suited for this environment. We hope to have sheep again. And whilst the donkey is efficient and is a favorite, the pig is always a matter of debate, because it requires feed. All the other animals graze freely on the Ice Aged grazing fields.
  The horses are a part of the Kufakó breed. This breed is an experiment on reestablishing the original Hungarian Plains' horse breed that is extensive, and fit for longriding. A prominent member of the Blue Farm is the Kunfakó mare Göcsej, who has trodden 300-250 and many times 150kms over mountains and the plains. She is also great at herding.
  In the middle of the marsh where the farm, farms are, there is a smaller pond, where we sometimes experiment with introducing aboriginal fish and vegetation.
  
  Cultural grants sponsor some of our events. Our motto is: "History. Tradition. Sustainability."
  Masters of crafts are invited from all over the Carpathian Basin alongside historical re-enactment groups, persons dealing with Hungarian species, anthropologists to give speeches and performances introducing their knowledge.
  
  Many crafts can be found incorporated into the Blue Farm, such as pottery, spinning, knitting, crochet, clothe-stitching and others. This is because sustainability also compromises of master craftsmanship of utensils and material. The greater portion of the Farm is built in this way.

  If you specifically want to get a one-on-one insight to a craft, it is possible.
  The prices are primarily intended for an individual as a private lesson. For groups, a discount is possible with individual pricing according to agreement - a group requires even more energy and attention from the instructor!

  ***Official skill exchange is possible free of charge/by agreement.
  ***In the case of a master-apprentice relationship, we only accept serious applicants who understand that learning a profession takes years, like any other profession in a school or university.
  
  In the case of the average volunteer, for general chores we are able to provide the bare silence of the praerie and/or cheerfulness to those who find joy in creating and experimenting and feel able to stand on their own two feet.
  
  It is also important to keep to tradition in customs. In practical terms at the time of Lent (Advent and Lent), fasting (being vegetarian, and modest) is encouraged. However during Carneval (All Hallow's Eve-Advent, Christmas-Lent) eating more animal produce, having a merry time in the winter is encouraged.
  
  Since I've been welcoming volunteers since 2017, I can say it is a great thing, since we can learn a lot from each other. I propose messaging our ideas and thoughts concerning one another is vital in advance is vital to our personal meeting. I look forward to new, prosperous meetings!

  A birtok 10 éve indult útnak.
  2014 óta sok módszerrel ismerkedtünk a táj jellegű életmód kialakításának szellemében, s a mai napig kísérletezünk. Egy biztos: a "tanya", mint fogalom egy alföldi típusú létforma a dombvidéki pincével, présházzal, az erdélyi esztenával ellentétben. S amit alkottunk talán nem is annyira tanya, talán nem is kúria, s még talán azt sem lehet igazán mondani rá, hogy gazdaság, hanem birtok. A tanya - hasonlóan a hegyvidéki esztenákhoz - egy ideiglenes szállás, ahová nyáron mennek ki a pásztorok a nyájat vigyázni. Ilyenek vannak a szomszédos Körös-Maros Nemzeti Parkban. A gulyások kitelepednek kutyájukkal a 80+ fős szürkemarha gulya mellé, s örzik őket. Tanya még olyan van, hogy pákásztanya - ez is egy apróbb szállás, amiben legfeljebb egy kiscsalád fér el. Hasonlóan ideiglenes szállás a pince, s a présház.
  Kúria azért nem vagyunk, mert ha kell, magunk is tapossuk a sarat, aminek velejárója hogy néha bele is bukunk kísérleteinkbe.
  Gazdaság azért nem vagyunk, mert fő állásban nem a jószágokból tartjuk el magunkat, se az 50 hektárt.
  Önellátás pedig csak akkor létezik, ha szigorú remeteségben éli le valaki az életét - ezt tehát felejtsük is el.
  
  A birtok olyan embereket vonz be, akik úgy keresik a helyüket a közösségben, hogy minél közvetlenebb módon éljék az életüket a környezettel.
  Ennek a célnak van szentelve a Viharsarki Árgyélus Tájépítész Népfőiskola Egyesület (VÁTÉSZ NFE) is, amely a Lezsák Sándor féle Népfőiskola hálózathoz becsatolva szeretne a Dél-Alföldön dél-alföldi módszerekkel, szokásokkal kísérletezni, s ezekkel élni. Sajnos sokan vándoroltak el a térségből, s emiatt nehéz megbirkózni gyakorlati akadályokkal de ez is egy jelenlegi helyzet amivel meg kell tanulni élni.
  
  Az évek alatt több módját kísérleteztük ki a kertészkedésnek az állattartás mellett. Több zöldséggel, hagymákkal kísérleteztünk. Több mint száz gyümölcsfát ültettünk, melynek nagy része a természeti adottságok miatt kipusztult - megtanultuk, hogy van ami tájidegen. Kecskét, rackát, mangalicát, marhát, szamarat, lovat, baromfit tartottunk. Ebből a legjobban a marha, ló és a baromfi vált be, de reméljük hamarabb mint később lesz ismét racka is. A szamár igénytelen, közkedvelt. A disznó mindig vita tárgyát képezi, mivel takarmányozásra szorul. A többi szabadon legel a jégkorszaki ürmös pusztán.
  A lovak részei a Kunfakó tenyészetnek, mely az eredeti ridegtartású, távlovaglásra alkalmas alföldi lovat célozza visszahozni. A tanya kiemelkedő pontja a Kunfakó kanca Göcsej, aki 300-250, s többször 150 km-eket tett meg hegyen s síkon. Terelésben is kiváló.
  A mocsár közepén ahol van, vannak a tanyák kialakult egy mélyebb, kisebb tó is, ahol kísérletezünk őshonos halak, s növényzet betelepítésével.
  
  Kulturális pályázatokból rendezünk eseményeket is. Jelmondatunk: "Történelem. Hagyomány. Fenntarthatóság."
  Kárpát-medence szerte hívtunk meg mesterembereket, történelmi csapatokat, őshonos állatokkal foglalkozó személyeket, néprajzosokat hogy egy-egy ilyen eseményen bemutatókat, előadásokat tartsanak.
  
  A többféle kézművesség, köztük a fazekasság, fonás, szövés, kötés, horgolás, viseletkészítés, s sok más is fontos teret képez. A fenntarthatóságnak ugyanis fontos része a szakértelemmel helyben készült eszköz, alapanyag. A alkotó tárgyak elkészítését is szakképzett emberek végzik.

  Ha a kedves olvasó célzottan szeretne tanulni valamit egy mesterségből, fizetett kurzusra tud benevezni magánórákra, vagy maga által szervezett csoportos foglalkozásra. Erre sok szeretettel várunk minden érdeklődőt!
  Az árak elsődlegesen egyénre értendők magánóra jelleggel. Csoportoknál kedvezmény lehetséges egyéni árképzéssel megegyezés szerint - egy csoport mégtöbb energiát és odafigyelést követel az oktatótól!

  ***Mester-inas viszony esetére olyan komoly érdeklődőt fogadunk kizárólag, aki tisztességgel megérti, hogy egy szakma megtanulása éveket vesz igénybe, mint bármely más szakma egy iskolai, egyetemi palettán.
  
  Ezen túl be lehet csatlakozni éppen aktuális munkafolyamatokba, amelyek nem igényelnek mestertudást, és folyamatos jelenlétet. Ez esetben a pusztai csendet és/vagy a jókedvet tudjuk biztosítani önkénteseinknek, akik örömet lelnek az alkotásban, kísérletezésben és úgy érzik képesek megállni saját lábukon.
  
  Fontosak a szokásaink. Gyakorlati értelemben ez azt jelenti, hogy a böjt idején (Advent, s Nagy Böjt) böjtölünk (vegetáriánus étkezés, szerénység). Ellenben farsang idején (Kis farsang, Nagy farsang) a több állati eredetű termék, hús fogyasztás élvez előnyt, és az ünneplés.
  
  Mivel 2017 óta fogadok önkénteseket, kijelenthetem hogy ez egy nagyon klassz dolog, mert sokat tanulhatunk egymástól! Mindig fontosnak tartom, hogy elképzeléseinket előzetesen lelevelezzük, s annak megállapodásában találkozzunk. Bizakodva tekintek előre a jövőbe, s remélem, hogy ismét eredményes együttműködések jönnek létre!

  Travellers will learn the dynamics of a homestead with a large grazing area and big of a bigger animal populace. Learn how to handle herds of animals, or get to know both smaller and larger animals' behaviour.
  They will also experience the beginning of a new life of of a farm building, that had been derelict for a couple decades but otherwise has the skelleton of around 250 years made out of organic material. They can understand the difficulties and benefits of what such a building has to offer in renovation and living.
  We also strive to live as off-grid as possible, which is in process, and which process is exciting in itself as well.
