We are booked for the season.
If you are looking for a longer stay there are other Workaway hosts nearby that might consider taking you before or after staying with us.
We are two women, a senior couple. Claire works as a Health Promotion Educator and has two chicken blogs. Jan is an artist. We've been hosts for more than a decade and enjoy meeting people from around the world.
Work exchanges are a bit like internet dating - everyone is looking for that ideal match. We might be great hosts, but not for you. You might be a great WorkAwayer, but not for us. Our ideal person is that perfect combination of good worker (punctual, hard-working, conscientious, takes pride in their work, flexible, self-directed, able to work independently), good companion (has come to learn and ask questions, wants to fully participate in our activities, is positive, curious, can spend some quiet time on their own) and above all, doesn't just see WorkAway as a cheap way to travel, but a learning experience and an opportunity for exchange (skills, knowledge, culture etc).
We want to work together with those willing to learn and are open to learn from those willing to share. Please be honest in assessing your strengths and challenges, your skills and abilities, your interests, your physical capabilities, and what you are looking to learn and do. Must be able to communicate in English at the intermediate level or better. LGBTQ friendly.

We have been hosts for more than a decade and have lots of experience hosting travelers from around the world. We live in a small gulf island community with loads of things to do: kayaking, hiking, arts, nature - and would be happy to show you around.
What do we have to offer? The chance to experience rural living in a beautiful setting - nature at your doorstep; 3 great meals a day (vegetarian or not; we can't accommodate vegans); a reasonable, varied work schedule; curiosity about who you are, what you want to learn and contribute; sharing our knowledge and experience that might facilitate your goals; lots of good music; and some fun.
What you can expect is a family interested in meeting you, interesting work with enthusiastic horticulturalists and enjoyable conversations about Canada and your home country. If you are interested in seeing, doing & hanging out we'll be happy to make your stay entertaining.

Chopping & stacking firewood; weeding; garden work; small building projects; care of funky chickens; tutor in use of digital camera. I have a chicken blog & would like help getting visitors to my site via Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, etc. Would like a tutor knowledgeable in blogging, online platforms & SEO.

Small, but cosy cabin in the forest with use of bathroom and kitchen in the main house. Breakfast is prepared on your own, we'll make lunches and dinners. We can accommodate omnivores and vegetarians, but not vegans. Non-smokers only. LGBTQ travelers welcome.

We live 1/2 km from the ocean and less than 2 kms from a provincial park on the ocean. Lots of opportunities to explore, farmers' market, arts, entertainment, hiking. There is a local bus service with a stop at the end of our driveway that operates 6 days/wk. We can also drive you to sites or bring you along on walks.
Claire takes time off from a full-time job when we are hosting travelers. We are happy to spend time with visitors but are also looking for folks who are self-directed and independent.
