Currently operating as a hybrid affordable rental with occasional work traders, we are on a transformative journey to become an inspiring art collective. Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
At our community homestead, people from diverse backgrounds come together to share their unique perspectives, traditions, and artistic skills. Immerse yourself in a melting pot of creativity, where you can learn about sustainability, building techniques, artistic crafts, and much more. We embrace and respect all cultures, genders, races, religions, and politics, fostering an environment of compassion, love, and non-violent communication.
Help
We kindly ask for 5 hours a day, 5 days a week of assistance, or 4 hours a day if you are covering your own food. While we do not have a rigid schedule and offer flexibility for individual projects, weekdays are preferable. The tasks vary, including gardening, house projects (landscaping, painting, cleaning, organizing), and creating artistic products for our future art collective. These products may include wooden geodesics, stained glass windows/suncatchers/stepping stones, yard art, felted lamps, and more. We welcome individuals with diverse skill sets and will provide guidance throughout the process.

Accommodation
During your stay, you will have your own cozy room in our 100-year-old, 6-bedroom, 2-bathroom house located in the heart of Asheville. Although the house is small for six bedrooms, our living room and kitchen offer ample space, and we have a charming backyard. Since its purchase in 2019, the house has undergone significant repairs and beautification with the help of workawayers and tenants. Additionally, we are within walking distance to downtown and the river arts district, and a short drive away from numerous hiking trails, waterfalls, and swimming holes. Bikes are available, and we plan to expand our outdoor gear selection in the future, including kayaks.
What else ...
While we are not a party house, we enjoy hosting potlucks, movie nights with our projector, and intimate fire gatherings. We respect the moderate use of plant medicines, but we do not condone heavy use or the use of hard drugs. As a supportive community, we strive to have a positive impact on those who visit us. However, please note that we are not psychiatrists or a rehab facility. If you are going through a difficult experience and require support, kindly ask if someone can hold space for you rather than unloading information without consent.
