Description
NO AVAILABILITY UNTIL DECEMBER 2025.
The animal shelter was created in 2016 in the little city of Hora on Andros island in the Cyclades.
Since then, more than 500 dogs have been rescued, neutered and adopted. And more than 1000 stray cats have been neutered also.
We do our best to rescue animals and place them for adoption.
We also raise awareness about animal respect and well being, especially with children who love coming at the shelter to cuddle the dogs.
Our means are limited, but we are happy of the results.
At the shelter, we usually have no more than 6-8 dogs at the same time.
They need care, love, food and walks.
Andros island is a beautiful island with rivers and forests, mountains, beautiful hikes, very kind and welcoming people and secure environment. Our food is very tasty too.
We need 1 or 2 volunteers, to feed and walk the dogs every day, and clean the shelter (pick up the poop and wash the dog plates). Some other little easy tasks may be required.
We are asking for 15 hours help per week. In exchange, you get a very comfortable private studio in Hora, close to the shelter, shops, restaurants and bars. Food is not included.
You will be most of the time independent. So we are looking for responsible autonomous people experienced with dogs.
You can hitch hike safely on the island. Lots of beautiful beaches and walks around.
Please check our facebook page - ask us for the link
Also, please make sure you have a health and accident insurance, as you will be asked to sign an indemnity form on arrival, as we cannot be held responsible in case of a problem occuring during your stay.Types of help and learning opportunities

Rowan kept the shelter very clean, he arranged everything in the shelter, from the leaches to the beds and the blankets that it so easy now for us .
Even in the little studio where we… read more
The town was pretty quiet when I was there because it was the holidays, so it was very peaceful and it was so nice to have the company of all the dogs.
The work itself is not demanding - walking the dogs, feeding them, and cleaning up after them. I would say it’s necessary that… read more
She stayed in Andros for two weeks and has been great with our dogs, Jessica did more than we asked her for. She is very experienced with dogs and she adores them.
She left the apartment clean and tidy for the next volunteer to stay in.
We can't recommend her… read more
