    Description

    Hola a todos!
We are the guardians of the corn, Victor & Lexie, We have a land in el naranjal close to jose maria morelos quintana roo, its two hours away from tulum , two hours away from bacalar and two and a half from Merida , we are literally in the heart of the Yucatan peninsula.
Our main goal is to protect the ancient corn seeds that are in danger to be extinct and encourage our local farmers to preserve their traditional way of doing it.
Since I just got the land couple years ago and I havent had the chance to stay for a long period of time we are still working on the house, it has already the frame and a roof built up all with local materials from the jungle with the help of the neighbors
We are ready to start building up the walls on a tradicional mayan way call "bahareque" using only local and natural sources.
Another of our projects is to create a medicinal garden full of herbs and flowers and on the side as well products that we will use to eat ,we already harvested this year enough corn to feed ourselves and the people willing to help. There is nothing compared to the flavor of a real hand made mayan tortilla and their traditional salsa.
We collaborate with locals that speak mayan and Spanish and most of the young ones are willing to learn English ( teaching Spanish or English to the mayan locals or our visitors could be another way of helping)
We want the people to enjoy the jungle, to enjoy the hidden Mexico, to enjoy the sacred corn and to enjoy themselves ...

    Help

We need some help in the garden,
Maybe in the kitchen depending on how big the crew is, we need help building up some clay walls and a clay oven so we definitely need people who want to be in contact with earth and is not afraid of dancing on it and getting dirty ( we dont use cement so our mixes are not harmful) .
If you have any experience teaching Spanish or English we could set up some classes for the locals in town or the people helping us.
Pretty much anything that can be share to make our house , garden and our community more beautiful and sustainable its completly welcome...
