We hosted Melissa and her friend Lena for about 3 weeks. The deal was that they took care of the house, pets, and plants during our 2 weeks' holidays. They came a couple of days before we left so that we could show them everything. We had talked about letting them do some painting but we didn't feel comfortable letting them do that alone so we
… read more gave them some little chores instead (picking grapes and apples, cleaning house, tidying kitchen cabinets...).
I think they did a good job with the pets and plants but I cannot say I'm happy with how we found the house when we came back. No cleaning had been done in 2 weeks, there was food rotting on the fridge, leftovers going to waste and soup leaking in the fridge, some dishes that hadn't been done for two weeks, a pile of cardboard next to the trash can, the work surface was dirty and sticky... They didn't even bother to vacuum and put away their belongings for our return and the hot-tub they used hadn't been cleaned much either. I cleaned the kitchen and hot-tub myself. I asked them to dust and clean the floor the next day, but they went for a walk with the dog and baked a cake instead (which was a nice touch, but still...).
There was really not that much work for 2 persons fed and housed for 3 weeks so I expected the chores to be well done. Unfortunately, half of the apples were still on a tree, only one flower bed had been weeded, they didn't pick up half the branches we cut, they didn't move books to clean a window, Idk if all the cabinets were tidied...
So yeah, my experience is mixed but not 100% bad either. Maybe they're just not autonomous and proactive enough to be left alone. Apart from that, they're calm, polite, and discreet girls who mostly kept to themselves in their bedroom.

I had a really good time staying with Caroline, Raphaël and my friend Melissa. They have everything you need in their home and even more. I mostly enjoyed the time in the hottub 😅 and long walkes through the beautiful surroundings.
They are really easy-going, open-minded, friendly and active people. We looked after their house and animals for 2
… read more weeks, when they were on vacation. Before they left we had some good conversations, meals and a game night together. They even took us on a hike through the village with lunch, together with their friends and family.
Blitz (the dog) is just the cutest, I'll miss him so much.
I wish you all the best for the future and some nice experiences as a host on Workaway. ☺️

Filip was our first Workawayer and we couldn't have hoped for a better match. He's an easy-going, sociable, funny, and hard-working young guy. He was a valuable help and always did more than what was expected of him. He's trustworthy and even stayed alone during one week taking care of the house, pets, and garden while we were on vacation.
He

In short, he'll be missed and will always be welcome if he wants to say hi to Mister Cat (or us 😉) in the future.Feedback
