    Description

We live on seven acres in the scenic Columbia River Gorge with our dog, Ike and a small flock of 7 chickens. We are looking for house sitters for 3-10 days throughout the summer as well as the whole month of October. We are one mile from the small town of Stevenson and 50 minutes from Portland. Part of the land is actively managed and a work in progress; the rest of the land is wild, wooded and hilly. We don’t do work exchange on this platform. If that is what you are looking for please find us on other platforms.

We offer visitors a chance to spend time in our organic gardening, young orchard, berry patch, Hugelkultur vegetable beds and perennial vegetables. The Columbia River Gorge is gosh darn beautiful with endless hiking, windsurfing, swimming and plenty of other recreation opportunities. We have a great community of neighbors in our little watershed. Stevenson is a lovely small town and a great chance to get a slice of Americana.

    Help

Ike is a friendly 5 year old mix. She needs one good walk a day and likes to spend time with people in the yard, running errands or going on hikes. The chickens need to be let out in the morning and locked up each evening with their eggs gathered daily. A few times a week they need water and food. Other responsibilities will be helping watering and harvesting in the garden.

Accommodation is either in the house on Murphy bed or in a 1987 Vanagon Westfalia parked near the house with a pop top and kitchenette (sink, fridge, stove). The bench seat in the picture folds down to a bed.

You can use the kitchen in the house and eat as much from the garden as you want.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We are in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Mt Hood, Mt Adams and Mt. St Helens are each about an hour away. The PCT crosses the Columbia here at the Bridge of the Gods. We have reference books, maps and are happy to provide guidance.

Please ID verify yourself with WA before requesting a visit.
