Description
With a love for the deep blue (but still learning how to swim, or sink safely with an oxygen tank), Jia Ling enjoys connecting the dots between the role of communities, businesses, and governments in working towards vibrant and healthy oceans and resilient coastal communities. Throughout over 14 years’ experience in non-profit, impact investing and government sectors, Jia Ling has remained passionate about the need to protect Nature and empower the people who are most vulnerable to the impacts of nature loss and climate change. Coming from the tiny island state of Singapore, Jia Ling is keenly aware of how interconnected our world really is, and how much deep collaboration must now happen to solve the world’s most pressing environmental issues.
When she’s not sitting in front of the computer (or the TV, or the phone), Jia Ling loves sticking her hands in pots of soil (some people call it gardening) and being outdoors among trees and near the ocean.Interests

Currently leading communications and knowledge management for WWF’s Coral Triangle Programme - a regional programme that strives to protect the world’s richest centre of marine life - famous for its incredible biodiversity, critical supply of fish and seafood, and top destinations for beach holidays. The Coral Triangle - stretching from Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and Malaysia to the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands - is sometimes known as the 'Amazon of the Seas'. Working with expert practitioners in varying domains to communicate their messages effectively, or document lessons learned as a key part of knowledge management, my work spans key themes from strengthening MPA/OECM management where coastal communities play a key role in co-management, to sustainable fisheries, addressing the marine plastic pollution (especially in infrastructure poor coastal areas and islands close to key marine areas) and protecting marine turtles!
In my free I like to garden, flip furniture, take photographs, and read. I'm very hands on and can help with yard work and other physical activities!Age

What else ...
I love the outdoors, nature, animals, wildlife and would love to be able to experience all of these more. Coming from the tiny island city state of Singapore I've not been able to grow up among these things in the greatest way possible but now that I'm older (and beginning to age) I would really like to experience more outdoors, nature and diverse cultures and people. I'm told that I have a friendly disposition, am chatty, and would be happy to work with my hands and with people as long as there's fresh air and good food :)
