We are a small retreat center/ashram, inspiring to become a sustainable community. We are completely off the grid, and with our beautiful views and quietness from surrounding mountains, it allows guests, retreat participants, and volunteers silence.
We are 108 km North of Terrace, BC, in the sacred Nass Valley, home to the First Nations people the NIsga'a. From the months of May - November, we offer retreats, yoga programs and yoga teacher trainings.
We have been opening our doors to Workawayers and Volunteers alike for many years now and never had anyone leave unhappy. Living off-grid the way that we do often requires long days and hard work but it also brings us closer as a community. Together we practice yoga and meditation daily.
We are running from mostly solar power and some generator power, with a gravity-fed water system, and a large garden, which is a work in progress towards a community of sustainability.
Our yoga courses, meditation retreats, and intensives cover a wide range of topics, beginning with the use of mantra-s, the intensifying of the energies of Kundalini shakti, and continue with deepening states of meditation, into an understanding of non-duality. It is a fully integrated form of yoga.
Our daily program changes based on the time of year and number of guests however it tends to be something as follows:
06:00 awaken morning chanting, yoga and meditation
09:00 Karma Yoga (volunteering)
14:00 karma yoga (volunteering)
19:00 Evening activity (music, movies, yoga, dance, fire ceremony, etc.)
20:00 Free time and silence until 8 am the next day
Weekends are usually days off.
We have Fire Ceremonies on either the full moon or new moon.
We have Dance Parties once a month and generally require our volunteers to have a sense of humor.

Travelers who come to stay with us will be able to receive daily yoga and meditation classes and will be able to learn about the yogic tradition in an easy, logical manner. After a one month or so stay with us, people feel usually very enriched by their experience, and they are able to even take a practice of meditation and/or yoga home with them.
We have been inviting volunteers to come contribute to our ashram and stay at our place since 2009. We would like volunteers to stay a minimum of one month. Volunteers can stay for the entire 6 months season-- however, we strongly advise people to come and "test the waters" before deciding on making a long-term commitment for stays of multiple months.
Along with meals and accommodations, we offer daily yoga, initiation into mantra and meditation, retreats-- which are on donation.
We harvest a lot from the surrounding old growth forest and our own land. Simple vegetarian and vegan meals will be served, using our own garden vegetables when possible. Meditation and yoga classes will be held daily in the morning.
Tasks this year will include the following projects: beginning garden work; finishing a straw bale building; harvesting garden, painting interior of buildings, fixing roadway, tending to daily chores such as weeding, watering garden, cleaning and cooking, tidying yoga hall, preparing cabins for guests and retreat guests and more.
We specifically could use an auto mechanic (auto and ATV) and one or more carpenters.
Volunteers will stay in dormitory, or tented accommodations.
