Description
Our names are Samuel and Emma and we are working to develop our five acre property into a permaculture paradise. We are located on the sunny eastern shore only 20 minutes from Hobart; there is a regular bus service if you don't have your own transport. We are only a 3 minute drive or ten minute walk from a beautiful beach, ideal for both swimming and long walks. The airport is only 10 minutes away and we can easily arrange to collect you.
There are numerous scenic walking and cycling trails in our area which can be easily accessed and we have mountain bikes available for use.
In addition to developing our property, we love to bushwalk and sail and would love to involve our guests in these activities if we are able. We both enjoy cooking and can guarantee that you will be well fed if you enjoy healthy, plant-based meals . We bake our own sourdough bread and we supplement our meals with as much produce as we can from our organic garden.
We share the property with a very friendly labrador and a cheeky goat and a pair of mischievous geese.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
As Emma is an English teacher and Samuel is a musician, we have a lot to offer overseas visitors. We have both travelled (Emma extensively) and have a good understanding of what it is like living in a different culture. We appreciate how important it is for people to feel welcome when they are so far away from home. We are both avid bushwalkers and sailors and would love to share these things with our guests.

Help
2 weeks - 5 hours a day for 5 days a week.
We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic people to help us develop our gardens. We have strong ecological values and employ permaculture practices, so the help we require is mainly organic garden related: weed management, soil preparation/improvement and planting. Gardening/landcare knowledge would certainly be welcome but is not essential. You will need to be reasonably fit and physically capable.
We may also need help with fencing and construction. In the case of wet weather, we have some indoor painting/building/labouring work.
In addition to the 25 hours a week, as you are part of the household/family we also ask that you assist with some food preparation/cooking, dishes & cleaning in the house (just as in any share house situation).Languages

Non-smokers only please.
As we are on septic system (which on flows into our direct environment) and nurturing our soil we also request you only use natural/septic safe and biodegradable products and avoid the use of chemical perfumes whilst in our home. What else ...
We live in a very beautiful part of Tasmania close enough to Hobart to enjoy what this great little city has to offer but also within easy access to beaches and walks. There are bus services to many of the beautiful scenic sights around this stunning Island and, when able, we would be happy to show our guests around.
