    Description

We need someone in October to early November.
We have a large house, a large garden, swimming pool and an equally large menagerie - 4 dogs and we are feeding 26 cats (although the cat population is variable).
The house is situated in the village of Gökseki, 5km outside Kaş, which is a lively tourist town and easily accessible by bus. In Gökseki there are lovely walks, open spaces and stunning views over the sea!
The work will be mainly garden and pool maintenance and helping with the animals.

    Hi from Kate and Gerard
We are two retired teachers, living in a village overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the Greek island of Kastellorizo. We are 5km from Kas which is a small but very vibrant tourist town. Gerard is a blues musician and plays in bars in Kas, currently 4 nights per week.
We have a large garden with a swimming pool, four dogs and around 24 resident cats. (the numbers vary!) We definitely need people who like animals and are comfortable with them.
We would prefer a couple but are happy to consider individuals.

Most visitors love the atmosphere in Kaş which is a fairly alternative Turkish tourist town. We have been living in Kas for a long time and are fairly knowledgeable about the area and its history. We have many friends, both Turkish and other nationalities which provides plenty of opportunities for interesting conversations and exchanges.

    Help

Mainly we need daily help with the garden and pool maintenance.
Gerard will explain the routine for the pool, but it's fairly straightforward.
The pool pump system needs to be turned on every morning and the pool cleared of leaves (and insects) if it's been windy. The bottom of the pool needs vacuuming once per week.
The garden needs sweeping and watering daily, which takes 1-2 hours, depending on the time of year and number of leaves!
When the weather is suitable (May to November) we host a live music event in our garden every 2 weeks. This involves setting up equipment and clearing away, which Workaway guests normally help with.

Our Workaway guests usually help with the general running of the house by doing washing up, occasional light cleaning and carrying things up and down the stairs (there's lots of stairs!)). We employ a cleaner who comes fortnightly and does a ‘big’ clean.
The dogs are walked morning and evening. Gerard takes them out early in the morning and Kate takes them in the evening. Sometimes we ask Workaway guests to walk the dogs in the evening, particularly when we are leaving early for a gig or some other event.

    What else ...

Kaş is a small seaside tourist town on the south coast west corner of Turkey. The majority of visitors are Turkish, and it is very busy during July and August.
We live in Gökseki, a small village just outside the town which is peaceful and rural in nature. There is a regular bus service between the town and the village.
During the winter the town is very quiet although there are restaurants and bars open. The surrounding countryside is fantastic for walking and there are numerous impressive archaeological sites.
