Description
Please review availability on our calendar before sending a message.
We are an English couple (Hollie & Tomas) who have fallen in love with Costa Rica and decided we wanted our own slice of paradise in the land of Pura Vida. We love the healthy living and eco-conscious environment that Costa Rica promotes. Our casa sits in a remote, rural location on 2 acres of land at the top of a hill over-looking the Golfo Dulce and Pacific Ocean. We have a lovely garden in the Costa Rican countryside and a swimming pool for the hot days. Wildlife is abundant here and Monkeys, Toucans, Sloths and Hummingbirds are regular visitors to our trees and flowers. This remote jungle location is a beautiful place to escape & reconnect.
WiFi can be limited so we always recommend that our volunteers get a local sim card. We do get occasional power cuts so we spend a lot of time reading, gardening and enjoying the natural surroundings. We go to the beach regularly and can be flexible with your working hours so you can come with us! We will always to endeavor to show you the local area on your days off. We have bicycles you can use to get to our local beach so walk (30 mins) Large supermarkets & ATMs are around an hour away by car.
Please note that we have 2 cats, Uvita & Macarela

Help
We are looking for someone who's happy to get their hands dirty with us, with a tranquilo attitude, a positive work ethic and have a spirit of adventure. We are looking for people who appreciate and can live deep in nature, a passion for the environment is very important to us. This is a very quiet area with and not much entertainment so this Workaway is suited to people who enjoy quiet time - early nights and early mornings.
Tasks can include painting, gardening, harvesting or landscaping but as we always have different projects on the go it's important that you are flexible. It gets pretty warm here in the middle of the day so we start around 6.30/7.00 and offer volunteers the choice to split their hours between the morning and afternoon.
You will be living in our house (with your own private room) and we would also need you to us maintain the swimming pool and help keep things clean and tidy. We have bikes you can borrow but be aware we are in a remote, rural location (15 minutes cycle to the nearest shop & nearest beach, half an hour cycle to Playa Zancudo). We also have boogie boards and yoga equipment you can use and i'm sure we can squeeze in a few trips to the beach.Languages spoken

Playa Zancudo has a beachfront bar/restaurant with great wifi. Our beautiful closest beach Playa Langostino is 15 minutes by bike (30 minute walk) and Playa Pavones is a 25min drive.
Transport : There’s a daily bus leaving Golfito for Zancudo at 3pm. You will need to get off in the village of Conte and get the Zancudo–bound bus which should be waiting. The entire trip takes about 3 hours; the fare is around $3.50. The bus goes right by our house before arriving in Zancudo.
Also, a passenger boat from the muellecito (little dock) in Golfito if running leaves at noon daily (or every other day in low season) to Zancudo. Ask us for details. The trip takes 30 minutes, and the fare is C6,000.
If you need picking up from Golfito or Paso Canoas we can come and get you at the cost of $40 per trip.A little more information

The accommodations they offer for volunteers are by far the best we have had, and the food was fabulous. Without a doubt, this was the volunteer that demanded more physical work, but in turn it was the most rewarding.
