    Description

We are an Irish couple that live in Rauland, Vinje, Norway with our joyful 1 year old boy and 3 year old boy. We’re looking for some help! My name is Michelle and I am married to Declan. Declan runs different music and arts festivals and events, and I work in a department of traditional arts in a university, currently researching a very old Irish vocal practice and its benefits for our health and wellbeing. We are a relaxed, quiet and easygoing family - Declan doesn't drink, and since having babies I don't drink much nowadays! We love music, arts, history, yoga and good food. We are looking for a calm, caring and creative individual that is happy, flexible and independent. Non-smoking individual or couple preferable to come stay with us and help with day-to-day living. Someone who likes cooking and being around a toddler and is willing to play with our fun and active child is preferable. We would prefer if our workaways were over 23 but we are open to younger workaways. We also have a preference for those who have lived away from home and are interested in exploring the area.
We are looking for help any time from May 13th until the first week of June. Thank you!

Rauland is a beautiful small village set in the mountains and beside the stunning lake Totak. It is known for its excellent skiing. A short walk from the apartment you can find cross country ski tracks/or walking tracks. Also a short walk away you can get the ski bus to the ski centres if downhill skiing or snowboarding is your thing (there is a possibility to rent ski equipment cheaply locally in the winter months).
Rauland is also known for its idyllic traditional log cabins, rose maling design on the cabins, crafts and hardanger fiddle traditions. You can wander and learn about these traditions in the local museums and university department.
And we can share some of this knowledge about local traditions and Irish traditions if you like!
Rauland is located along the Hardangervidda, a national park.
Rauland is also close to the UNESCO World Heritage town Rjukan, a great destinations for a visit. For some more information see: visitrauland website

We need help cleaning the house and organising the deck outside, preparing for the summer! It would also be a great help if you could prepare some meals! About 4 hours a day, 5 days a week. These hours will mainly take place in the mornings (until 13:00 or 14:00). We are looking for a workaway that is happy to get stuck in organising the house with us!
Meals/Food are provided. If you are good at organising and working out how to make spaces more beautiful or practical we welcome that also! Weekends are your own. We can give you a ride to buses if needed. We encourage you to get out and explore this beautiful area. We would like you to enjoy your time here as much as we enjoy having you.
