  • Description

Our farm is a non-certified organic farm in central Minnesota, USA. We raise goats for fiber, meat, milk and cheese. We grow a vast variety of non-gmo, heirloom veggies, fruits, flowers, and medicinal herbs for local families, farmers' markets, and local businesses. And we raise chickens, ducks, and guinea hens for meat, eggs, and insect control

We are also a community event center and host classes, dinners, festivals, concerts, and weddings. We live in a straw-bale farmhouse, and have a few other Natural Building projects on the lists for this coming season.

  • Help

Volunteers are welcome to come for a few days to a few weeks, or longer if we like each other, and help out on the farm! We usually ask our apprentices to work 5 hours a day 5 days a week, but this is flexible according to everyone's needs.

We will be spending most of our time out of doors, preparing beds for planting, weeding, harvesting, working with animals, tending to soil health and fertility, pruning fruit trees, making deliveries and chatting with folks at market. This is physical work, which does require some strength and stamina. We spend our after hours cooking a lot of good food, making music, riding bikes, hiking, swimming, and gathering with friends.

  • Accommodation

We have several accommodations. Certainly in the summer-time we have plenty of tent-space for those who enjoy camping. We also have a vintage school-bus that has been turned into living quarters, complete with a kitchen and an outhouse, which could house 2 people sweet on each other. We have a loft in our art Studio which could also house two folks. And we have some extra rooms in our house. All of these spaces are subject to availability, depending on how many folks we already have here.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We are a teaching farm, so it's lovely if folks that come here would like to get their hands dirty and learn about how to grow beautiful, vital food. We often have anywhere from 0-3 long term apprentices here learning to farm, plus the folks that live here. So we offer a community of folks in all walks of life living and learning together. We offer a rural experience of land, community, food, music, and farming. There are lots of lakes around here for swimming and great hikes and bike rides. Also, we're about an hour away from the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul) which are cultural hubs in Minnesota.
