    Description

    Hello soul searchers,

From mid December 2022, we will be continuing the EARTHBAG project house construction. Either you want to learn or that you have any experience everyone will be welcome. The Earthbag house has been started last Sept and im hoping to finish it for March 2023

PLEASE ARRIVE AND LEAVE ON THURSDAY. Thursday is the only day that I can accommodate arrivals and leavers as it is easier for me to plan. Also, by arriving on Thursday, you can ensure to get your groceries for the week. Volunteers are encouraged to have meals together, As it is easier to share the cleaning, cooking... and leaves the volunteers with more exploring time.

Artist, sculptor, painter,, a pers on with knowledge of construction, painter, carpenter, plumber, vegan/vegetarian cook, yoga teacher, tropical gardener, permaculture, marketing skills and how to propagate green/yellow bamboo will be welcome as well.

At the moment we are building our own website a person for the final touch will be awesome.

Possibility to create together a yoga retreat, or dance, art etc.....

The property I have is an amazing 3 1/2 acre property nestled in the small mountain town of Chimirol de Rivas, in Perez Zeledon near Chirripo National Park. The property is off-grid, surrounded by nature. We have a private river with natural baths, a 32 feet waterfall, and beautiful jungle trees and wildlife. I have banana tree, sweet lemon, lemon acidic, plantains, and guava trees growing, , manzana dee agua plus the new fruit trees that have been added but are not producing yet. I'm hoping for a vegetable garden... It is truly a magical place to take a step back and get in touch with the earth and the enchanted environment of Costa Rica. I have 3 beautiful cats that are super friendly. They should be treated nicely - no animal abuse of any kind will be tolerated.

I rent out space to guests who are looking for a natural health sacred SANCTUARY in this beautiful area. I offer guests the experience of off-grid or free of electromagnetic field life. So the volunteers are requested to use camera to take photos vs the phone, you can use your phone just outside the property and there is a wifi cafe 7 minutes walk from the property. In addition mother earth will support you in re-establishing your circadian rhythm if your choice is camping, in the dry season and of course by eating healthy.
When time allows, in the future, my wish is to give a 28-day program to a small group of girls between 18-26 on transcending beauty standards, enhancing self-esteem, self-worth, and joy of life by a daily SOUL EMBODIMENT practice. Eventually, a version for boys too.

A well-fitting volunteer for the Sanctuary is one that is open to receiving direct instruction on the tasks, irrespective of their previous experience or knowledge. This is an environment of learning for us all, and it is essential to keep an open mind and accept my guidance on the work. This is not the place for anyone who is not able to accept learning new ways of doing things. It is ok to not to know how to do something, it is, however, super important to stay motivated, focused, and open to learning how to complete the task. We are all here to learn, therefore it is very important to stay respectful and understanding.

Core values are important at the sanctuary which are Authenticity ,respect, creativity, health and commitment. Are they part of your values? Volunteers who are motivated, creative, health-conscious, and environment-conscious are welcome.

Rules (Make sure you are ok with the below rules before applying)

-Volunteers should respect their commitment to work the number of hours as we agreed. Breaks and cooking time and cleaning are not included in the volunteer time. Tidiness and participation are very important for the well-being of the group.
-Compost toilet must be taken out every morning before work
-Volunteers are responsible for recycling their own rubbish and bringing it into town to dispose of in appropriate recycling bins.
-The common area must be swept daily
-No dirty dishes to be left in the open at any time - as this attracts animals
-Close gas cooker after cooking at all times
-Cover food pantry overnight to protect food from animals
-Volunteers must consume a vegan (raw)/ or cook vegetarian diet while on property
-No use of chemical products including shampoo, soap,in the river. you can bring a lufa, face clothe or use sand or rock for exfoliation etc
-NEVER put any chemicals in the river
-Move food compost away from the platform at night
-No brittle dishes at the river
-Volunteers are in charge of buying toilet paper
-Washing of dishes or clothes in the river must be done with water only, NO SOAP.
_for a small fee you can have your laundry done.
*if you are sick, Flu or covid or having any symptoms please delay your time of arrival as it is contagious as we want to keep everyone healthy.
*If you get the flu after your arrival you will have to go to nearby hostel or in a airbnb to avoid any propagation.
    * please recycle your jar, plastic, etc,,,it should be cleaned for the recycling or you can reuse them

Please note, this is a SMOKER-FREE, DRUG-FREE, and COFFEE/SUGAR ALCOHOL/STIMULANT-FREE opportunity. Including JUNK food/PROCESSED food free. Also, we are eating fresh and whole-food/ no processed food like bread/spaghetti but fresh pancake/zucchini noodle, etc... This lifestyle should be respected if not this is not for you.

    Day to Day:
We typically start our mornings around 6:00 am and work for about 4 hours before it gets hot. We work 4 days a week (a total of 16 hours a week). I don't provide food for the moment and this is one of the reasons why it is 16-hour working week and not 20/25/30 hours.

Typically, I give Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday off for the farmers market in town. On Thursday, volunteers typically go together to San Isidro to shop for their week's food.

Many people who have come have found the off-grid lifestyle extremely rejuvenating, however, for others, it can be difficult to learn to slow down. But everybody enjoys their experiences. We have freshwater from the river (purified for drinking/cooking), the river serves as a perfect bath on a hot day! I do not have wifi on the property, as we don t have electricity. But in the afternoons you can go to the nearby cafe. Or if you have on your phone a sim card you will be able to connect down the property.

    Important things to know:
-We have no Internet, electricity, or running water here except at the house where you can refill jug for the drinking water. However, we have freshwater from the river, it is a plus if you bring your own water filter bottle.
-I advise you to bring working gloves of your own.
-It can be helpful to bring wet shoes for bathing in the river as the rocks can be slippery.
-Consider bringing a solar lamp (LUCI) and a mosquito net if you need those things.
-Costa Rica is very humid, ensure to put your sleeping bags in the Sun daily for some time to protect them.
-If you break any dishes or any item belonging to Soul Sanctuary, it is respectful that you would replace the item.
    - We have no fridge, please ensure you do not bring products which need refrigerated.

This is an opportunity that I'm offering to whoever is looking for this kind of experience, not a place to come and wanting to change the lifestyle of the Sanctuary as well as the core values/principle...
Make sure this is the experience you are looking for...
You will have to sign an agreement that you accept the core values of our place

    Accommodation

There is a big platform with a single bed and two double beds there is a roof and on the river side it is close with window sliding doors .. the rest is half open like many houses in Costa Rica. However, there is plenty of space for camping. Most of those who have been staying with me have been enjoying their own private campsite by the river. Tents or Hammocks work best (with tarps for the rainy season). In the dry season (high season), it does get a bit cold at night, so sleeping bags or blankets are needed. I strongly encourage bringing camping equipment, as I can rarely guarantee a bed space due to the numbers of volunteers constantly coming in.

During the rainy season sometimes i enjoy to have one to one volunteer. or two,3,4......

Food will be bought in the local fresh market by volunteers every Wednesday and Thursday until self sufficient garden. I strongly encourage healthy eating and incorporating more raw foods into your diet while you stay here. Some volunteers comes here for that purpose healthy eating, drug free and alcohol free. so to respect the value of the sanctuary and the ones who come for it, it is important that we support each other toward new healthy habits

We have a common area where you can prepare your food. We are limited to 2 gas burners, therefore RAW VEGAN eaters are very welcome.
