ARE YOU A BIRD ENTHUSIAST LOOKING FOR A VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY IN COSTA RICA?
While "volunteering" for eco-projects in Costa Rica can be costly, we have an opportunity for an experienced guide/birder or couple.

You will actually be provided a furnished loft apartment and basic food items in exchange for your volunteer duties. There may well even be some financial rewards connected to the guided tours.

Our purpose is to promote and arrange forest hikes 3-4 days per week, never with more than eight visitors per tour. In addition to these guiding duties, the upkeep and basic maintenance of these forest trails, rest areas and the buildings and gardens will also be part of the duties.

Volunteer(s) should be able to :
-Identifiy basic birds of the area and other animals and flora. The more you are able to provide the visitors the greater will be their appreciation, and gratuities.
    - Help clean up fallen trees
    - Use a Weed-wacker
    - Basic maintenance skills

A love of nature and the spectacular solitude of our cloud forest is a must. Don't expect anything other than fiber optic internet and nature as your entertainment.

We would like a serious commitment of no less than 2-3 weeks. At the end of this period we can reassess the arrangement and see about a possible extension.

It would also be a big plus if you had
some CONSTRUCTION experience - for some handyman jobs.

Workawayer(s) will have full use of separate apartment with kitchen, dining, and can sleep 3.

Agreed upon workaway hours will be followed by free time, which will include the unique and exclusive use of the forest trails that wind through the primary forest. Keep in mind, this is the same mountain range and ecosystem as the world famous Monteverde Park, but ours is exclusive for our use only! When your chores are done for the day, you will have a chance to visit the cloud forest like few others. Additionally, there is a lake on the property for swimming.

We are sure that the satisfaction of being part of a conservation effort to protect primary cloud forest and it’s many inhabitants, as well as the wonderful learning experience of this unique ecosystem will be quite fulfilling.
We have various nests hung throughout forest where the seemed put Resplendent Quetzal cones to lay their eggs each year March - June.

The apartment is awaiting your arrival, once all the details can be worked out with you!

    Future Projects:
    Additional jobs
    *create a vegetable garden.
    * Helping in restaurant in neighboring town.
    * Cleaning paths through the rainforest, identifying trees, plants etc.
    * Odd handyman jobs

We would expect 4 hours of work 5 days a week and are flexible to work days/time out that allows you to explore country.

The property is close to San Ramon well known in Costa Rica for its tight-knit, diverse community which has been home to three former presidents. Its main industry is dairy farming, sugar cane and of course coffee plantations.
Butterfly and flower in the rain forest Rolling hills and pastures give way to pristine tropical cloud forests in the highlands, noted for their variety of epiphytes, mosses and over 225 species of birds. It is a University town with museums and all amenities you need. Buses from San Ramon can get you to all destinations.

Our property is at the top of a ridge surrounded by rain forest, beautiful views of the valley below to the Pacific Coast. There is wifi and comfortable lodging.
There is a lake on the property as well as various rain forest trails.

    Accommodation

Volunteers would stay in separate apartment where there is a 1 room upstairs a bathroom with shower, kitchen and dining where they would have their privacy. We have wifi. - internet service, fiberoptic.
Phone service is iffy, communication with WhatsApp a must.
There is limited public transportation close by. Very quiet and private area. We suggest renting a car to take advantage of all the sights and attractions. Bus service is great from neighboring towns.
We are at over 3000 ft so the weather is coolish.
