We have recently hosted Ginny and Dave for 10 days this August and we cannot thank them enough!! It was our first workaway experience as hosts and we just loved it. Ginny and Dave did not only help us with all the works around the house (carpentry works, painting walls, moving furniture, gardening, cleaning, cooking and taking care of our babys),
… read more they were also super pleasant to live with. They are funny, open, kind, passionate and respectful, they cooked amazing italian risotto for us, they played a lot with our babys and and blended into every social situation as if we would have known each other for long... Even unpleasant works were done quickly and with a good mood. On top of everything they are very skilled in practical work, as they have various experiences from different jobs and hobbies.
Ginny always helped cleaning the dishes after we cooked and she was so attentive, she even saw what was needed before we did.
They are traveling with an old but golden Fiat Van and have lots of funny storys about the car to share.
They both speak perfect English and already picked up some German phrases due to their passion for Linguistic and lifelong learning.
We are grateful for meeting these two lovely people and being part of their journey with the epic van through Europe!!! We wish you the very best and may you make it to the Canary Islands on New Years :) Good luck with everything and hope to see you soon! Enjoy the ride

My partner and I have stayed at Jojo and Manal’s house for 10 days this August. Martenroth is a suuuper small and quiet village close to the forest, the perfect place if you need to escape the city routine for a while and want to recharge your batteries.
We really enjoyed getting our hands dirty and our minds quiet, as well as the company of every family member, their friends and cheerful neighbors. We worked during the week and chilled on the weekends. On a Saturday we had a housewarming party where we met many of their friends, had fun and beers together and enjoyed a ton of good food and a nice bonfire to conclude the evening.
Since we don’t speak the language, Jojo and Manal (who both speak perfect English) also gave us some very useful help in talking to mechanics and electricians in German when we had several issues with our van.
We are grateful for meeting this lovely family and being part of their vision for the house that they want to turn into a social gathering place. We wish them luck with everything and hope to see them soon!
