Description
Hi guys,
We're Daniel and Leah 37 years old, our daughters Sophia, 5 years old, and Priya 3 months old. 2 dogs Chuva and Unicorn, one cat named Calma, and 9 chickens. We're originally from Israel and moved to Portugal 3 years ago as we wanted to live a sustainable life in nature. We felt an inner call to live closer to Mother Earth, to animals, and ourselves. We love learning about permaculture and the ongoing work on the land such as water management techniques, food forests, natural forests, growing veggies and herbs, and medicinal plants.
We're also looking to learn all bout food preservation to preserve the abundance of fruit and vegetables growing on the farm.
We are blessed with very rich soil as we are in the valley with over a hundred grape vines, about two dozen olive trees, over 50 different other fruit trees, and of course the seasonal vegetable garden. in the past three years we've been learning all about olive picking, preserving olives, making wine, grape juice, and jeropiga - a delicious local alcoholic beverage also made from grapes.
The farm is located in the Penamacor district which is a beautiful area in central east Portugal about half an hour's drive from the Spanish border. There is a 5-minute drive off-road to get to the farm, so it's completely quiet and in a beautiful valley, with no sign of human civilization. We have very nice neighbors around us and sometimes there are parties and jam sessions right nearby.
Daniel is a musician and we have a music studio here, so it's extra nice any for musicians and artists.
The help we need depends on the season.
Summer - grape picking, grape juice, wine and jeropiga making, strimming, and food preservation.
Fall - planting, garden prep building, olive picking for oil, and making preserved olives to eat.
Winter - pruning, garden prep building
Spring - garden prep, building, planting
Builders are always welcome and there is always work on the farm's general maintenance.
Also, child care/babysitting would be a great help all year round.
At the moment we have 2 caravans available, both with roofs, terraces, electricity, and water. equipped with everything you need.
one of them is bigger with 2 beds so it's possible for families, we lived there for a year.
We'll be very happy to have more kids to play with our daughter.Types of help and learning opportunities

The second caravan same conditions + an outdoor kitchen, an external shower and toilet, and an extra bed. situated amongst the olive treesWhat else ...
We would prefer couples or families and expect 2-3 hours of work a day. If we supply the food we expect 4-5 hours a day, we can discuss it.
Either way, all are welcome to enjoy the fruits and veggies from the farm and fresh eggs.

We felt trusted, acknowledged, welcomed and happy around them. It was lovely to share the working days with them, and every other occasion on the free days too. We were their friends and didn’t feel as workers.
