  • Description

Hi! We’re an adventurous, hardworking couple relocating to Alberta and looking to connect with locals, explore Alberta’s landscapes, and contribute meaningfully while we settle in.
We’ve volunteered together internationally (including farming, environmental cleanup, and art projects in Indonesia in 2022), and we both value independence, creativity, and supporting the people and communities we work with. We seek positive, mutually respectful and collaborative environments.

    Rachel
My name is Rachel. I work in film and events and am currently transitioning my career from Toronto to Calgary’s film industry. Over the past several years I’ve worked as a Scenic Painter, Set Dresser, and Props Assistant, painting and decorating sets and supporting art departments on production builds.
I enjoy taking on new creative challenges and have taken courses in glassblowing, woodworking, and pottery. I like to shop at thrift store and markets, and restoring secondhand furniture and decor items. In the events industry, I’ve worked in creative copywriting, promotional branding, and event planning.
I’m observant, adaptable, and strong with detail-oriented work. I’ve supported seniors with gardening and home organization, and I’m naturally drawn to supporting people one-on-one, like as a caregiver for a woman with a mobility disability.
Through past travels, I’ve harvested rice and buckwheat in Japan, assisted with beekeeping in Greece, worked with farm animals (cows, sheep, goats, chickens) in Australia, and volunteered with a sea turtle conservation project in Costa Rica.
I’m passionate about food and nutrition, and hope to eventually build a business focused on experimenting with unique recipes, flavour extracts, and gut-health-forward products. I’m especially interested in land-based projects, sustainability, and learning practical skills connected to food and growing (fermentation, beekeeping, hydroponics, etc.).

    Ken
My name is Ken, and I care deeply about the health of the planet, the environment, and animals. I’m drawn to work that keeps me physically active and meaningfully engaged.
This past year, I worked as an organic gardener, growing and maintaining vegetables and herbs using sustainable practices. I love being outdoors, working with the soil, and seeing the direct results of steady, consistent effort.
I grew up working on a cherry farm in the Niagara region of Canada, so agriculture and physical labour have been part of my life from an early age. I’m physically fit, able to lift heavy materials, and genuinely enjoy hands-on work.
I’m also an actor and singer with a strong hospitality background. I’ve worked in several successful Canadian restaurants as a cocktail bartender and server, developing solid knowledge of food, wine, and crafting well-balanced cocktails.
My experience also includes construction and renovation work as a painter, plasterer, and labourer. I’ve been a personal fitness trainer, a certified lifeguard, and have taught swimming, soccer, and basketball. I’m trained in First Aid and CPR and am comfortable taking responsibility when needed.
I bring strong work ethic, practical skills, and a positive attitude to any project. I enjoy learning, contributing to a team, and being useful wherever I’m needed.
