My 2 weeks with Ely in the hostel was absolutely amazing. The hostel is big and beautiful but has a wonderful homely feeling. Ely was incredibly patient with me as I practiced my Spanish (which definitely improved) and also very flexible with shift patterns so that I could enjoy all the wonderful things to do in the area. I will definitely be back! I already miss Ely and the other volunteers so much. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to meet lovely people. Thank you Ely!

Don't pass up the opportunity to host Drew and Macy! We've hosted a lot of people but these guys really stood out. They were kind, great listeners, had a positive attitude toward all the tasks we asked them to help with, and always executed their tasks well. They were amazing with my son and great company in our home. We feel blessed to have had their help. Best of luck in your future adventures guys!!

If you get to host this couple you are in luck. They are hardworking, careful and they added value to everything I asked them to do. They are keen to try their hand at anything and need minimal supervision once they're on the job. Kevin and Christine were a joy to host and to share time with.

My workaway experience with Kathleen was a spontaneous and very pleasant one. Kathleen offered to pick me up from my first host on the same day I messaged her. She and Lance were very welcoming, forgiving, benevolent and patient. There was plenty to do at their farm, but Kathleen and Lance's flexibility allowed me to call my relatives back in Europe which had to be done in the afternoon due to the time difference. She even drove me to pick up my credit card (80 min drive both ways), as well as take me to the thrift store so I could buy some clothes for my future job, which ended up saving me a substantial amount of time. The food was scrumptious and well-varied. Both Kathleen and Lance are great listeners and Lance has a great sense of humour! I was lucky enough to celebrate my birthday when I was staying with them - Kathleen took me to Kananaskis national park and bought me a very tasty burger at the local saloon, as well as a delicious birthday cake. Kathleen and Lance's dogs are well trained and a pleasure to be around. Overall, I can warmly recommend doing a Workaway at their farm.

I spent 5 weeks here and overall it was a very pleasant experience. The Orgiva area has a very relaxed, yet powerful and protective energy. Floris, Paulina and Amba have created a small but welcoming and relaxed space for yoga retreat guests and volunteers. As it was peak yoga retreat season, most of my hours for the first 4 weeks were cooking for guests and volunteers so learned a lot of cooking techniques. I also did cleaning and setting up guest cabins. The last week was mostly gardening which I enjoyed. Hopefully the new bamboo weave fence has survived! I really appreciated being able to use their beautiful yoga temple to host a couple of massage workshops demonstrating some techniques which were well received. It was interesting to talk to the other volunteers and guests from many countries and I have made a few new friends. The kirtan gatherings and waterfall trips were fun. Floris and Paulina were understanding, supportive and flexible regarding work and other activities, the weekly sharing circles combined with shift setting meetings were very beneficial. I would recommend their place for volunteering and may well return in the future. Namaste.

My three weeks on Loon Island felt like stepping out of the world and into a small piece of quiet paradise. From the moment I arrived, Hope and Phil welcomed me with a warmth that instantly made me feel safe, understood, and at home — even when my English failed me. Their patience and kindness turned every conversation into a moment of learning, and every day into something I genuinely looked forward to. The island itself is something special. Tall pines surrounding the water, mornings so calm that the lake looks like glass, and air so fresh it makes you breathe differently. There’s a feeling on Loon Island that time moves slower — like life gently pauses for you. The work we did together never felt like work. Whether we were outside taking care of the property, sharing stories, or laughing about small things, everything had a simple, comforting joy to it. Evenings by the fire were my favourite: the crackling wood, the softness of the night, the peace that settles over the island… it became a ritual that I’ll remember forever. I got to drive the boat, jump into the cold lake, explore Muskoka, and learn more than I ever expected — not just about the island, but about myself. There’s something healing about a place where people treat you with genuine care and where nature slows down your thoughts. Leaving was hard. Hope and Phil became like family to me, and Loon Island became a little home I didn’t know I needed. I’m incredibly grateful for their hospitality, their trust, their patience, and the countless moments of laughter and calm. I recommend this Workaway with all my heart. It’s not just a place to stay — it’s an experience that stays with you. Thank you, Hope and Phil. ❤️

We started our Workaway experience with Brenda and Scott, and we couldn't hope for any better! The life on the farm was incredible. The place is amazing and full of life. Wallabies are everywhere and you're always surrounded by animals (the birds!!!) so it's a great place to be if you like them! The dogs, Frankie and Nemo are always joyfully running around (though Nemo will make you believe he's quite slow) And the cats!! Bella is the kind to order your around and Sam is frankly an hilarious weird one but you can't help but love him. The jobs were various, so we were never bored - we learned so many things! Brenda was always keen to share her knowledge about horses, cows, peacocks, chooks... She's one of the most wholesome person we've ever met, she cares so much about animals and people - she's such an amazing person to be around and learn with! Scott taught us plenty as well. We've learned confidently about gardening, woodcutting, and even some carpentry! We had singing sessions with him while he played the guitar, went to the beach, talked about so many interesting subjects...it was just all so amazing. We were welcomed there like family and we will forever be grateful for that. We've had a groundbreaking experience we will never forget. Tara Farm, its animals (Little Percy ♥️ and the chookies) Brenda, Scott, Louise and all the people we've met during our stay will forever be in our heart. PS: You're welcome for the French Lessons mate (to read with the Aussie accent 😉)

About 3 weeks I had a great time with the two of us.I'm not good at English, so the two of them spoke kindly and it was a comfortable time.Tasks were not difficult, such as playing with dogs, making dinner, and cleaning the house. Miljana made a lot of German food, and it was a good experience to learn a lot about German culture.Bjorn has a lot of fish and taught me how to raise them.It was my first work-away experience, but it was a memorable stay that I fell in love with Germany.I would like to visit two people again.Thank you very much.

Hello Eleonora, and thank you for your time here on the farm. Angel was very satisfied with your participation and ability to help on so many different areas. I'm glad you had the opportunity to harvest coffee (which we will roast as soon as it is dried)and to care for and eat from the avocado trees. The opportunity to live on a farm that produces what you eat is extremely rewarding and we were glad to share this experience with you. The green beans that were planted are now sprouting and we will harvest next month. I want to thank you for your comment about the delicious ( glad you liked it ) food that we have on hand and always is available. When I returned on the 2nd of November I found on the patio a hundred kilos of pumpkin and squash ready to cook, on Angel's terrace there were ripe plantains, bananas and Angel had extra eggs from the chickens. There were chayote, citrus and avocados on the trees ready to be harvested a week before you want to eat them. I know you helped to care for and then harvest some of this food so thank you! It's Our commitment to have rice, beans and oats, nuts and raisins available at all times. Angel knows where to acquire all of these all that is needed is let someone know when supplies are low so we can purchase. Of course we would like you to come back whenever your schedule will fit our availability. Please let us know. We hope you enjoy your remaining time in Costa Rica. Franklin Wilson

It was such a pleasure to host Thibaud! He is friendly, helpful, and deeply compassionate, with a great sense of humor that makes him a joy to have around. He’s a wonderful team player, knowing just when to take initiative and when to collaborate, and he helped new volunteers feel instantly welcome and comfortable in the house. During his stay, Thibaud completely cleaned and reset the glasshouse for winter removing old plants, washing the glass inside and out, and preparing fresh compost for winter greens. He also took on weeding, hedge trimming, lawn care, and garden refurbishment, harvested potatoes, and carefully cleared and covered all the outdoor vegetable beds for the season, and repotted and pruned plants for overwintering. Indoors he built a beautiful wooden towel ladder from scratch, painted walls, did small repairs, and even helped prepare some art prints to become greeting cards. Thibaud is versatile, thoughtful, and creative in how he approaches every project. He brings competence, good energy, and an easy, positive presence to daily life. I would welcome him back anytime and highly recommend him to any future host!

We enjoyed the time in coromandel with Susan and Jim. They have a lovely place with so much birds flowers and nature. Susan is cooking fantastic meals. A very active couple with an interesting story. The shed we lived in is so beautiful and good isolated (not common for nz houses). During the time the place was like our second home and we are very sure that this is one of the most beautiful places in New Zealand. It is a perfect example for the kindness of the New Zealand people. The work was very easy and not hard. Especially because Susan is supporting you with biscuits and lemonade.

Timo is an amazing guy overall, and a super worker. He has extensive experience with all kinds of tools, including driving machines like a trencher, and has gained some experience here using the excavator. He likes working with his body better- and he never seems to stop. We have had many (many) great conversations, as he is intelligent, and thinks things through. It's nice to meet such a well rounded guy. He takes on everything with gusto. He housesat for us during our trip away, and even then took on many jobs. We absolutely trusted him- and when problems arose in our airbnb ( where he greeted guests as well) he dealt with them swiftly- saving us a lot of trouble and costs! If you have specific jobs in areas he is less familiar - discuss needs clearly, as he works so hard, and fast. (watch the OEI's Timo :-) ) Would absolutely recommend. anyone is lucky to have Timo come and help them out.

We had a lovely time with Howard and Enid. We enjoyed interesting conversations and a lovely board Tripp. I had never met a couple that was travelling that much around the world. The work was really structured and easy to handle with Howard gear. It is right in the middle of Taupo so it is easy explore the city.

The stay with Norman was one of the best stays we had. He only gave us work that fitted us and the accommodation was really good. Outside from the host and workawayer relationship we also got to be friends with him. We went fishing with him and Miley and had some nice evenings at home.

This was our first Workaway experience, and it exceeded all of our expectations. We spend 3 amazing days with Renza and Gianni, and in this short period of time we felt that we got to know each other very well. Renza and Gianni both speak and understand English very well, and we had interesting conversations about so many things : our families; travels; the similarities and differences in the Italian and Danish culture; food; sports, politics, life etc. We didn’t do a lot of work. We only helped out in the garden for a few hours, and we tried to help the best we could when delicious meals were prepared in the kitchen. Renza and Gianni are both great cooks, and they made the best meals for us with lots of local delicacies. We had olives from Gianni’s trees, homemade Coppa (I think), grilled Tomino cheese, the best risotto, a delicious birthday cake, salads, etc etc. Renza is a passionate and energetic volcano, and Gianni is calm, warm and laidback. Both are kind, curious, funny and just fantastic people, and it’s impossible not to love them. We really enjoyed our stay with Renza and Gianni. In fact we went to visit them again, before we went back to Denmark. We are happy to say that they are now our dear Italian friends.

staying with Girtz, family, friends and fellow workers was a stay I will never forget and that helped equip me for my future more. I got to experience the Latvian culture more than I think i would've anywhere else, it was the perfect place to stay to learn. the land is beautiful and the people there are as helpful and understanding as you could ask for. the projects are fun and natural and the community is as warm as the fire.

We've grown very fond of Joshua; he has a sensitive and humble soul, a love of nature and Italian culture. He helped us tremendously with the olive harvest, and it was a wonderful experience sharing our daily life with him. He was flexible and a tireless worker; we were lucky to have him with us!
