🌿 Sakiko joined us in November, and from the very first day she set a completely new standard. She is incredibly fit, deeply committed, and puts care into absolutely everything she does. Honestly, we have never met a volunteer quite like her. 💪🌾 🧱 Just when we thought the day was done and we were ready to rest, Sakiko would still be there, sweeping, tidying, doing one last thing without being asked. Maybe it’s that quiet Japanese discipline and mindset, but it never once went unnoticed or unappreciated. 🌱🧹 🌻 She supported us with brick rendering, plastering, and gardening, always working with focus and pride. Beyond the work, she brought such a lively, youthful spirit and a warm heart to our space. 💛 🌏 It was also genuinely fascinating to learn about her culture and the kind of work she’s done in the past. Sharing stories, experiences, and perspectives like that is one of the most beautiful parts of hosting volunteers and Sakiko brought so much depth to those conversations. ✨🇳🇵 She was endlessly curious about Nepali culture too — asking questions, observing, learning, and showing real respect for the place and people around her. 💚 We feel incredibly grateful for the time Sakiko spent with us. Her energy, dedication, and presence left a lasting mark on both the farm and our hearts. 🌸 Hope you can visit us one day, Best wishes, Lena and Bishwo

I volunteered here for almost 2 weeks and had a wonderful experience. I slept in my van and used the kitchen and common areas in the volunteer house, which was very cozy and lovingly set up. The farm was about a 15-minute walk away (a wonderful hiking trail through the nature). Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming from the very beginning. The work was a lot of fun. My job was taking care of the kids and feeding &cleaning the bunnies. I had a phone call with clare before I arrived, and it was clear that each volunteer was encouraged to contribute their own skills and strengths. This made the work feel meaningful and well balanced. Clare and Laura (long term volunteer) took a lot of time to explain the work, especially the force-free approach with the horses. The principles, mindset, and practical steps were explained very clearly and patiently, which made it easy to understand and apply. What I especially appreciated was that the same principles used in the animal work were also applied in how people interacted with each other. It was a very respectful, open, and appreciative atmosphere. We often cooked together, sat around the campfire, and shared many laughs. I felt very comfortable, valued, and inspired during my stay, and I’m truly grateful for this experience. I can highly recommend volunteering here to anyone looking for meaningful work and learning.

Lauriane first reached out to us five months ago, so we were genuinely excited when the time finally came to welcome her here. She joined our crew just in time to help us build part of the animal barn, from the start, she fitted right in and brought an energy that made the team feel complete. 🤍 🇳🇵 🙏 🌾 You can always tell when someone has volunteered before, Lauriane picked everything up so quickly, it felt like she was here in a past life. She understood the flow, the work and the shared rhythm of living and building together without needing much direction at all. 🌱 🎄✨ We were lucky to share both Christmas and New Year together. 🍫 One moment we’ll never forget is the chocolate fondue she made for everyone, pure happiness!! Card games, tea, laughter, music, and dancing.. there soo many joyful moments that made the days feel full and connected. 🃏💃 Alongside the building work, she also helped with gardening and planting, always with care and enthusiasm. 🌿 🌻 Lauriane, thank you for your time, your effort and the warmth you brought into our home and project. We are truly grateful and hope our paths cross again someday, maybe in Switzerland 💚 Warmest wishes, Lena and Bishwo

🌿 From the moment Edie and Baris walked through the door, they felt like family. They came to us through a recommendation from one of our past volunteers. They kept extending their stay with us, it was really hard to say goodbye. 🤍 🌱 We shared so many special moments together, celebrating Christmas and the New Year, going to the movies, playing card games 🎄✨working side by side during the day. They brought such a strong sense of community with them, the kind that makes a place feel alive and connected with everyone and the project 🫶🏽 🌾 At the farm, they were always ready to help. From painting, building an animal barn to harvesting and planting seasonal crops, they showed up with steady effort and positive energy, always bringing the good tunes too 🎶 Edie brings warmth and care into everything she does, while Baris is always open, adaptable and up for whatever task or adventure comes next. 👩‍🌾🛠️ 🌻 More than the work, what we’ll remember most is the spirit they brought with them, kindness, teamwork, and a genuine respect for shared living. We’re incredibly grateful for the time we spent together and for everything they gave to the project. They’ll always have a place here with us. 💚 Lots of love, Lena and Bishwo

It was great to host Jacob! Nothing was every a problem as he was always willing to get involved and do the work - often more than required! His attitude, enthusiasm, humour, maturity and practicality made him an excellent Workawayer. We got lots of work achieved during his stay and definitely enjoyed his company. He was always keen to learn new skills and help with any task. We definitely hope that Jacob returns for another stay, and wish him all the best with his career ambitions. Thanks Jacob!

Dan stayed with us at our homestead for two weeks and was a friendly, polite, and respectful guest throughout his stay. He integrated well into our family life and was especially good with our children. Dan spent time playing with them, showed patience, and created a relaxed and positive atmosphere, which we really appreciated. Dan arrived with limited practical and manual skills, but he showed a positive attitude and a clear willingness to learn. Many tasks required guidance and initially took him some time, however with clear instructions and support this worked well. Over the course of his stay, Dan was able to make noticeable progress and gain more confidence in the tasks he was involved in. Overall, Dan was a pleasant person to have around and a good fit for a homestead or family environment that values a friendly personality, enjoys sharing knowledge, and offers a supportive, learning-oriented setting.

Hosting Coco & Eoin has been a pleasure. . They are approachable, polite and jolly ! . They are also interesting to have a conversation with. . They adopted easily to village life and they were social with fellow villagers. . Working with them was also brilliant as they carried out perfectly all tasks they were assigned to do without hesitation. . We are glad that they visited our village, and very happy we made them our friends. . They totally deserve the good words ! . Hope one day we'll see them again, even if they come just for a visit ! . Wish them the best to whatever they do !!!

Gunn - Elen is a sweet and always willing to help young woman. She spent 3 weeks in our Center in Amorgos which is full of cats (sick and healthy). The Center needed a lot of cleaning daily to keep it in good condition and the cats needed a lot of attention.Gunn - Elen responded readily to everything and did it well. Our cats loved her. She had also to take care our dog Kira who is a young and active dog and Gunn-Elen tought also her some things. Gunn -Elen is willing and responsible in everything she does and she always does it with a big smile. Thank you soo soo much Gunn-Elen for all the help you offered to us and our animals. We hope to see you again in Amorgos as a volunteer or a visitor. We all enjoyed a lot your company!

In my experiences as a Workaway Host, I can think of no better example of the quintessential Workawayer than Chad. His wide array of skills in Joinery, Roofing, Carpentry and Masonry combined with his efficient execution were second to none. And he came prepared with all of his own equipment and tools. Incredible!! He was an absolute pleasure to have at the chateau and I can only hope he will wish to return!! Thx a mill for all your great work and fine company Chad!

My experience at David’s farm was truly valuable and full of deeply constructive moments. For me, it represented a significant shift — moving from my own farm, where I am usually the host, to a form of permaculture that goes far beyond agriculture as a single concept. My time at the farm expanded my vision of the systems we can build to better integrate our lives with Nature. I became a real fan of the compost toilet, which I found genuinely ingenious, simple, and effective. Caring for the animals — from goats to chickens and cats — was also a great source of inspiration for what I would like to develop in Italy. David is a kind and thoughtful person; when he explains the tasks, you can clearly see the care and love he puts into everything he does, and listening to him is a constant source of inspiration. He often told me that in everything we do, we need to put the right feeling into it, so that there can be mutual nourishment. During my stay, I had the chance to harvest fruit, observe the behaviour of the trees, prune, process food, learn how to make cheese and yoghurt. Cooking was also fascinating, using only ingredients from the garden — a completely new perspective for me compared to what I was used to. As soon as David found out that I am the son of a painter, he gave me the opportunity to express this creative side at the farm, and this meant a lot to me. I truly appreciate when people listen to who you are and offer you space to express yourself creatively as well. I enjoyed also the chainsaw lessons where I learnt how to use it and take care :) I highly recommend this farm for its welcoming atmosphere, its deep listening, and the strong sense of a small community that naturally forms here. If you want to learn permaculture — but above all to live permaculture in a broader, more holistic sense — this is the right place for you. I am deeply grateful to David and to all the volunteers I met during my stay. This is a place I will always carry in my heart.

Siempre bienvenido a nuestra casa, familia y hogar hermano!

Georg has just departed after a very helpful week's stay. I should start by saying that he understates his English skills in his profile - he is definitely very fluent vs the too modest "intermediate" level that he indicates. And maybe that is reflective of Georg's capable and understated way of being. In building me a fine chook house and a great frame for my laundry tub, he quietly and skilfully put my tools to good use (having had to find many of them first!) without any fuss. He showed patience and initiative throughout his stay, along with good humour and a positive mindset. He was a pleasure to have around the house and fitted in really well with the two other Workawayers staying at the same time. He generously took them on local outings in his car and I was pleased to see his interest to make the most of his stay in the area. A faultless Workaway effort on his part and a worthwhile hosting experience for me - the 5 stars all round are well deserved. Thanks Georg - look forward to remaining in touch
