Āila’s energy is truly one of a kind. What stood out to me the most was her ability to deliver excellent work while radiating such positive energy. Working with her never feels like work at all. She takes initiative and handles things you don’t even have to ask for. Despite her youth, she’s wise beyond her years. She’s so sensitive, it’s almost like she has a sixth sense. She has life experience and maturity, making her a truly valuable and inspiring person to have around.

I had a great time volunteering with Richard and I'm very grateful for the opportunity to be part of his project. The work was varied, which kept every day interesting. During my stay I helped with animal care, grass cutting, planting soybeans, and even had the chance to take part in a cultural exchange with a local high school. No two days were quite the same. It's worth mentioning that the work isn't always easy. Some days are physically demanding, especially when working outdoors, so it's good to arrive with realistic expectations and a willingness to get your hands dirty. That said, I always found the work rewarding because you could clearly see the difference your efforts made. Whether it was transforming an overgrown area or helping with the daily care of the animals, there was a real sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. Daisen is also a fantastic place to experience rural Japan. Nestled between the Sea of Japan and the slopes of Mount Daisen, the area offers beautiful scenery, peaceful countryside, stunning beaches, and plenty of hiking opportunities. If you enjoy nature and a slower pace of life, it's a wonderful place to spend time exploring on your days off. If you're visiting during the summer, be prepared for the heat and humidity—they can be quite intense, especially when working outside. Staying hydrated and bringing appropriate clothing will make a big difference. Thank you, Richard, for welcoming me into your world and allowing me to be part of your unique project. I learned a lot, had some unforgettable experiences, and am grateful to have been able to contribute, even for a short time.

Isabela was a warm and attentive host. The hostel is a dream — surrounded by greenery yet only a five-minute walk from downtown. Volunteering here is wonderful: the work is relaxed and enjoyable, the team and guests are fantastic, and you meet many great people while it remains a calm, non-party atmosphere. We felt very comfortable and highly recommend this placement to anyone looking for nature, peace, and easy access to the city. Dankeschön Isa! ;)

Miguel est notre cher Miguel. C'était sympa de rencontrer ce citoyen du monde, ouvert,courageux, souriant, drôle, sensible, super cultivé. Nous nous sommes régalés de sa cuisine, avec un carot cake divin à l'unanimité et un art de créer des accompagnements et plats principaux avec amour et j'ai adoré qu'il puisse transmettre à Tiel la recette de la Tortilla espagnole. Conversation profondes et légères à la fois assurées, disponibilité, on peut parler tranquillement et ouvertement. Miguel était très "goal oriented" pour perfectionner son français, c'était drôle et sympa à accompagner. Merci Miguel, on espère rester en contact avec toi, on sait que tu n'es pas Suuuédois et que tu n'es pas Suuuisse, mais on a tous aimé être avec toi.Et bravo pour tes progrès, à bientôt.

Edward and Ingrid were the best hosts I could have asked for. They prepared delicious meals for me every day, and we had many wonderful conversations about food and different cultures. They were always checking to see if I was hungry or thirsty, and their kindness and genuine care made me feel so welcome. Thank you so much for everything. They also asked me what kind of work I wanted to do and gave me tasks that matched my interests. The work was enjoyable, refreshing, and never felt stressful. Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home. I had an amazing time, and this experience will always be one of my favorite memories. I highly recommend staying with Edward and Ingrid!

As my first experience with workaway I couldn't really ask for anything better! I really felt at home with Marie Luise and her family, like a real family member. I loved everything about the place: the house is big and well kept, while the garden was perfect for parties or to just enjoy the peace and quiet of the wonderful surroundings. All the family members are kind and good hearted, if you are looking forward to establish real and meaningful connections, this is the right place! While playing card and board games or even just speaking and listening, I could learn so many interesting things about the habits, the culture, the language and the way of thinking of a completely different population. The first week I worked in the garden. This was what I enjoyed the most, learning how you use gardening tools, how you eradicate roots and how to use the grass trimmer. I'm really grateful my help was useful in order to create a welcoming environment in the garden, where we celebrated of the family member's birthday, eating amazing food and dancing untill late. The other job was helping Marie Luise to put up the market stall, wich was fine. I'm also greatful I could help with that. The advantage in that situations, was the possibility to visit other cities by catching busses or trains from the station, wich is very nearby and easy to reach. I would definitely come back next year! :)

Francesco came to stay with us for one week as a last minute volunteer. He is a very polite and pleasant person to have around. Hard working and motivated to learn and help, he is happy to lend a hand in all situations. It was again a heat wave here , so during his free time, Francesco did some hiking and jumped into all possible lakes. He also got close to the other volunteers and even went on a weekend trip with them to Geneva. Francesco has a very calm and positive aura. He always looks at the positive side of things and avoids drama. In the short time he spent with us, Francesco became an integral part of the team. We also all enjoyed his cooking. And his kind words and gentle demeanor. He is a truly great person to have on your farm, and such a generous spirit. Thank you so very much for all the help! We will miss your smiles and your optimism. Come back to visit us after your next big adventure!

I spent two months and two weeks with this lovely family, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. They made me feel welcome from day one, and I quickly felt like part of the family. The two children were a joy to be around, and I really enjoyed spending time with them. The work was fair, communication was easy, and the overall atmosphere was warm and positive. I’m very grateful for this experience and all the great memories. Thank you for everything—I would love to come back again in the future!

We have had the great pleasure of hosting Anja and Jonas as Workawayers here in Lofoten, Norway. Over the years we have welcomed many wonderful volunteers from different parts of the world, but we can honestly say that we have never experienced a more complete team than Anja and Jonas. From the very first day, they blended naturally into both our daily life and our work. They quickly understood what needed to be done, took initiative without being asked, and carried out every task with remarkable efficiency and attention to detail. Whether the work was physical, practical, creative or required independent thinking, they approached it with enthusiasm, professionalism and a positive attitude. What impressed us most was their incredible ability to adapt. No task seemed too difficult, and no challenge was met with anything but a smile. They worked at an exceptionally efficient pace while always maintaining a very high standard of quality. They are reliable, trustworthy, hardworking and genuinely enjoyable people to spend time with. Beyond their work, they became a natural part of our home. Their kindness, humour and positive energy made every day better, and we truly enjoyed sharing both work and everyday life with them. Dimitri is nice man. In beginning we had few difficulties probably becouse culture differences.. but he was realy putting effort and help a lot...he helped a lot with animals, forest cultivation an farm in general

Anna was an absolute pleasure to host as a Workawayer. She brought a wealth of knowledge and experience with horses, and her confidence and willingness to share what she knew was incredibly valuable. She was fantastic with our 3 kids they absolutely adored her and looked forward to spending time with her. Anna was patient, kind, and naturally great at connecting with them. More than anything, Anna is just a genuinely lovely person to have around. She fit into our busy life so easily that it honestly felt like we'd known her for years. She was hardworking, thoughtful, and always happy to help wherever needed. We feel very lucky to have had her stay with us and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to any future host. Lachlan and Sisi are a lovely couple. We worked a bit with glass, creating metal jewelry. Pope's help was also invaluable; it was very important to me. With Sisi, I learned a little English. We shared things about her country that I didn't know. It was very enriching. I definitely recommend them.

Vilnė came as a stranger and left as a sister, housekeeper, therapist, pet sitter, bodyguard, gardener, manager and a true friend. She stayed for about two weeks. She is friendly, helpful, respectful, reliable, open minded, super strong (like wtf?🤯), warm hearted, self aware and a fast learner. She is super bright at problem solving. It doesn’t matter what kind of problems. She is very independent and took good care of her energy. Which makes her super reliable and it took away my worries about asking too much from a Workawayer. She helped me plan my daily life, noticed when I was stressed and took all the time I needed to help me regulate my feelings. I learned so much from her just by living with her. The way she treats herself and others inspired me a lot. She was the calm and strong leader I needed in chaotic and overwhelming situations. When I went on an event to do body painting or just a little further away from home, she was like a body guard making sure I’m fine, hydrated and that I got home save. She took care of my garden and my cat which I know missed her for a while afterwards. She took over all my household chores and improved my home a lot. We had wonderful conversations which left me feeling either happier or smarter afterwards. She is a good listener and I also loved listening to her. I laughed a lot with her. She was like a sibling that makes everyday tasks feel like a comedy show. She likes banana milkshake. If you have the privilege to host her please make sure to have bananas, dates, black chocolate and milk at home. Also she likes hugs and dancing. You will have a wonderful time and I already envy you🤗 Dear Vilnė Thank you for everything! I hope we will see each other again and you will meet your new nephew. 🚼

I spent a week with Helen and Gabi. It was a last-minute choice and... wow! I felt welcomed by everyone right from the very first moment—especially by Helen, who was always so hospitable, constantly checking if I needed anything and "spoiling" me (along with the others) with her amazing cakes and formidable homemade jams. Gabi taught me a lot through his way of working, as well as his perspective on seeing and interpreting the world. Their diverse life paths really reflect and explain their recent life choices and current intentions. Even though I had no prior experience or skills in gardening and agriculture, I felt I was given the time and opportunity to learn, try things out, and contribute in my own way. I truly learned so much during these days. The environment they’ve created makes it so easy to build great relationships among workawayers, which is a huge plus and definitely not something to take for granted. Not far from the farm, there’s an enchanting lake where you can cool off and spend the afternoons. We also had several opportunities to take the car and discover truly unique and breathtaking landscapes. The mid-morning outdoor brunch all together—surrounded by tons of food and embraced by the stunning mountains that encircle la ferme de la Pioche—will stay etched in my memory and heart. In short, an experience I absolutely recommend! Thank you for everything, and all the best for the future!

Penelope and Antoine were exceptional work away guests. They fit right into the family and were thoughtful, kind, organized and flexible. They took initiative to set priorities for the day, they worked well together and independently. They worked hard and were lots of fun to be around! Truly a delight. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for extra help on their land or in their garden. They were so sweet with our son and taught him French and played soccer with him. They felt like immediate friends we had known for a long time.

Maurice & Yasmin were wonderful! and we are so grateful to have hosted them. From the very beginning, they were incredibly friendly, open-minded, and kind to everyone around them. They were always respectful, easy to communicate with, and brought a positive attitude to our Place. It was a real pleasure to have them as part of our family during their stay. Marina and Jošt have welcomed us on their land for just over a week in the midst of July, although it felt way longer with meaningful connections through conversations and work. We have helped there in erecting a fence and making a couple of rustic doors for a sizeable permaculture veggie garden mostly done with natural and reclaimed materials. This young and experienced couple is socially active, their ideas and project reflect a genuinely pioneering spirit of community building. When you volunteer at this place you will learn about the association they co-established, which gave us the chance to meet some of their friends, with whom we felt immediately involved. Here you can truly appreciate exchanges about concrete actions of empowerment in the context of an extensive urbanization. We found this project to be unique in terms of learning because it shows you how to retrofit an existing structure into one that is more energy efficient and thus sustainable. Be prepared to learn a lot. As this is truly grassroots land-based project where you can put into practice what you know about ecological building and living. You can help renovate, using natural materials and building techniques thanks to Jošt’s knowledge. Also, you may learn how to work with salvaged materials, repurposing this so called ‘waste’ into resource. Marina will teach you about organic food growing, and you will have an opportunity to impress with your cooking and child minding skills if you have some, as this is a busy household with a small adorable daughter who will show you a thing or two as well.
