Clementine came to visit us to help out with our garden, childcare, housekeeping. She is an absolute gem of a human being. She is so full of life and joy. We feel so grateful that she chose to visit with us, our kids came to love her like a big sister. She was thoughtful, clean ,punctual, she did basic tasks without having to ask her, she is a great cook and baker. She's all around an amazing person and we had a wonderful experience hosting her. Hopefully we'll get the opportunity to see here again!

They handled the culture shock of rural NZ life brilliantly — even getting involved in things like possum shooting and goat culling with good humour and an open mind. They asked thoughtful questions, were never shy to jump in, and worked hard at every task we put in front of them. Their enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and positive attitudes made them an absolute pleasure to host. We really appreciated having them here and would welcome them back anytime.

Friendly, curious and genuinely interested in farming, he asked great questions and picked things up quickly. He helped with everything we threw at him and cooked a lovely meal. Easygoing, hardworking, and great company — exactly what we look for in a Workaway. We’d welcome him back anytime!

Volunteering at Youngchul's farm was a heartwarming, authentic, and memorable experience. The work itself is very mindful, and the farm is in a lovely and peaceful location. As a host, Youngchul couldn't be better. He is kind, generous, funny, and a fantastic chef. He helped us see the surrounding areas by giving us tips, and taking us out. We enjoyed really wonderful chats at mealtimes, and even got to meet his lovely wife Mimi! We felt very comfortable and welcome at his home, and we highly recommend this experience! THANK YOU YOUNGCHUL!!! ❤️

This sanctuary holds a special place in my heart. Although it has already been half a year since my workaway-stay, I never left in my mind. During my six weeks there, I got to know and love the wonderful animals, the amazing landscape (honestly the prettiest sunset I've seen in my entire life), and of course the people who do incredible work and have such beautiful, caring hearts, not only regarding the animals but towards everyone around them as well. I enjoyed the conversations at the dinner table where everyone got together. When listening to Patty's experiences of rescuing animals, I could always see how much and how deeply she cares. The daily work on the sanctuary includes feeding animals, cleaning enclosures, and making sure everyone is safe and sound. Apart from that, there is always something to do and rarely a boring day. At the same time, there are clearly organised shifts and weekly rosters (shoutout to Noah who keeps the sanctuary running smoothly), which helped me with work-life-balance. In my free time, I liked to spend time with the animals (especially the dogs), explore some nature spots in Victoria or visit Melbourne on my days off. I'm forever grateful for this opportunity and the trust I experienced when it came to looking after the animals. I kept my promise and recently went back to the sanctuary, and realised how much I had missed the soft clucking of the chickens, and the peacefulness of watching the cows, sheep and alpacas on the hills. I can highly recommend this place to all animal lovers!

I spent 15 days at the guesthouse and I loved it. The place is so friendly and relaxed, and the owner makes you feel at ease from day one. The proximity to the beach was fantastic, and the work was simple and enjoyable. Thank you for your warm welcome and great atmosphere! I had a wonderful stay! I highly recommend it.

We had such an awesome time with Blake, Ava, and Teo and we're so grateful for our experience there! We felt welcomed from the moment we stepped through the door and we made so many great memories working alongside them. Katoomba was a great place to explore, and there were endless things to do in the area- we feel like we barely scratched the surface! The property is sooo beautiful and the stay was very comfortable and relaxed with Ava's family. The work was great and Ava was very considerate with giving us work that suited us! Thanks for everything!!

I had 4 wonderful days with Stephan and Mimi the cat on the boat with some creative projects, inspiring conversations and lots of fun. Although the weather was quite bad with a cold front coming in I really enjoyed my stay. Stephan is such a welcoming and wonderful person, with a lot of adventure stories to share. Everything he does is filled with so much creativity and love, that it is a real pleasure working and spending time with him.

Patricia and her family are absolutely wonderful. I truly enjoyed spending time with them in lovely Cabrils. The family are fun, kind, warm and considerate. The kids are great, funny, smart and the experience was a joy. Cabrils is a beautiful village with gorgeous locales, beaches and being with the family here was an experience I will always appreciate and never forget. Thank you Patricia.

Noah was the youngest Workawayer we'd ever had but his maturity, skills and ability to help in many ways were second to none. He especially liked the mechanical stuff, so winterizing the boats and garden equipment was right up his alley. He even helped us diagnose and repair the golf cart we depend on mightily when it broke down. He also cleared up a lot of brush, split up a few big trees, closed the garden and helped finish up the thousand and one things that need doing every fall. As a plus, he's a very nice guy, pretty good piano player, and great company during and after work. When we realized we still had lots to do, he was happy to stay on an extra week, which was a lifesaver. Thank you Noah. Good luck with the pilot's license.

This was my first workaway experience and I could not have chosen a better place. Lisa was a fantastic host who always puts the needs of the animals and fellow workways first. The animals are amazing beasts who you will no doubt fall in love with. Lisa worked together to discuss what tasks would best suit my interests in animal husbandry and what other skills I could offer while never feeling pressured. The household felt peaceful with a strong sense of community. I immediately met people from multiple countries and continued to extend my stay to see what was next. I was also able to work remotely with consistent access to good internet and private space. I have learned a great deal about domestic animals, vegan cooking, and general construction through Lisa and the fellow workers. My only regret is I could not come back soon enough!

Maddie and Dom were honestly incredible additions to the sanctuary. They learned quickly and gave an extra level of care...checking in on each animal, making sure no one got overlooked, and giving special attention to those who needed a little extra time, care, or patience. They weren’t just doing tasks... they were really present, tuned into the personalities and quirks of the animals, and completely dependable. They helped us keep things running smoothly with a quiet confidence. You never had to ask twice. They took initiative, showed up consistently, and never shied away from the not-so-glamorous parts of animal care. And when the work was done? Some of the best meals we’ve had here ...creative, flavourful, and always appreciated by the whole crew. Dinner times were filled with so much laughter, random debates, and genuinely good company. They fit in immediately. Their animal slideshow cracked everyone up but also showed just how much they noticed and cared about the crew here. Thoughtful, funny, and spot-on. ;) They made an impression that’s going to stick. We’ll miss having them around ...the animals will too. Any host would be lucky to have them. Until we see you again!!!

We arranged for Reda to come visit us many months before he arrived and it was worth the wait. He is a warm, gentle and outgoing guy who is afraid his English isn't good enough even though it was never an issue and we understood each other just fine. He was a tremendous help over the three weeks he was with us and always asked what more he could do. We threw a lot of new things at him and some of the projects were very physically challenging, but he picked things up quickly and his energy and enthusiasm never let up. He enjoyed learning to use all the tools and it was great to see how much joy he got from learning to drive the golf cart and the boat. It was also a pleasure to see how much he appreciated our place and the activities we can offer. He's very well-traveled so we took it as a great compliment. Thank you Reda and we hope we meet again.

In October, we stayed with Sella and her team for two and a half weeks. We had the opportunity to get our PADI certification and then restore coral at one of the sites where the place carries out its work. We were also allowed to help build an eco-camp on Mount Klabat. An unforgettable experience! By helping here, we were given the chance to learn more about life in Sulawesi and the local culture. Also it was fun to meet a lot of other volunteers while being there. Besides we learned to become more flexible as plan’s occasionally changed - which we understand. Thought that asked a mind shift from us. But in the end I think we managed pretty well:) Sella and her team are like a family. All loving, hard-working people having fun together. Especially thanks to Hegar , we worked a lot together with him which we enjoyed very much. He has humor, has passion for the projects he manages and is open for good conversations and sharing his culture with us. Thank you all for this opportunity! Wishing you the best of luck with all the wonderful work you are doing.

I spent the most of my time with Aranas parents (6 months), and it was such an amazing and inspiring expierience. Nick, Arana and the kids are so lovely people and love to share their big knowledge in Permaculture and Natural building. From strangers to friends to family!

Our experience here was unfortunately not what we expected from a Workaway exchange. The living conditions were below basic level — there was no hot water, the bathroom lock was broken and couldn’t be closed from inside, and the rooms had large gaps where insects or even snakes could enter. On the first day, we were also told that the hosts would not take responsibility if anything happened, which made us feel unsafe. The atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming, and there was very little communication from the hosts. We came with the hope of cultural exchange, learning, and meaningful interaction, but unfortunately, we did not feel that during our stay. One more issue we observed was that the volunteer space had no supervision or guidelines. Some volunteers were smoking and using substances openly, which affected the environment for those who came for peace and nature. This could be improved with clearer rules and more involvement from the hosts. The only positive aspects were the two lovely dogs and Sunita Didi, who cooked the food with warmth. Because of them, we stayed as calmly as we could for the short time we were there. We decided to leave after two days because the conditions and environment did not feel suitable for us. We hope the hosts take this feedback positively and make improvements for future volunteers. Lastly, we want to say this clearly: A volunteering place becomes good because of the hosts, not the building or the land. Even with limited resources, kindness, communication, and respect can create an amazing experience. But without these, even the best place feels uncomfortable.

All the staff and volunteers were very welcoming. The first week allowed us to adapt to the guidelines for working with the dogs. By the second week, we were more independent and confident. Leaving was very difficult because you become so attached to all those adorable dogs. I recommend it 200%!
