Hello from Kevin (30) and Christine (28), a hardworking couple from sunny Singapore!

We have been on a career break since Sept 2025 to travel, explore, and live a completely different life from what we know in Singapore. With a strong desire to immerse ourselves in nature and experience the rewarding work of farming, we are excited to be in New Zealand, ready to dive into new challenges and learn valuable skills.

We plan to travel the entire country within a year. Our journey started in Auckland from which we made our way down south via the West Coast. We reached the South Island in November 2025, worked for two months during the cherry season in Central Otago and finished up our exploration of the South Island. Booked our ferry tickets back up to the North Island in April where we will continue travelling the areas we haven't covered before.

We’re excited for the opportunity to contribute, grow, and embrace the beauty of New Zealand while experiencing life in a way that’s different from the hustle and bustle of Singapore.

Looking forward to connecting with hosts and discovering more of this beautiful country!

Quais são suas habilidades?

Since arriving in New Zealand, we’ve mainly worked in gardens and on properties, with one placement on a dairy farm.

In the gardens, we’ve gained hands-on experience with pruning, weeding, transplanting, building plant supports, and moving materials around the property. Kevin has used power tools for cutting down trees and dismantling an old wooden bench. Outside of Workaway, he’s been converting our car into a self-contained vehicle, which has given him the chance to learn new practical and technical skills. We've also worked a lot on property maintenance and have painted exterior walls, washed and stained decks, window cleaned, wood chopped and stacked.

On the dairy farm, we helped care for calves — feeding, moving them between sheds and paddocks, vaccinating, drenching, and assisting with milking.


We’re really excited to experience local life, meet new people, and help out along the way. We love getting involved, learning new skills, and contributing wherever we can — whether that’s in the garden, around the house, or with animals.
