Hello!
My name is Laura and I am an avid traveler, passionate language learner, and dedicated volunteer. I am determined to give back while actively making a difference in social issues that matter to me.
I have extensive volunteer experience including working with children with children with disabilities through sports and art, supporting immigrants with legal aid and access to social services, and volunteering at a community kitchen. I also have teaching experience with both adults and children including teaching English as a Second Language, one-on-one French tutoring, and children’s literacy tutoring. Lastly, I have experience working in a non-profit and can offer skills to help support your organization ranging from development and management tasks to social media.
Having previously lived abroad and traveled extensively in non-English speaking countries I am very comfortable being outside of my home country. I look forward to exchanging with locals, learning about your culture (especially through food!), and exploring the natural beauty nearby. I am very eager to participate in any language exchanges.

I have been studying Arabic for 5 years now and am eager to learn other dialects and improve my spoken Arabic! As I speak French and English, I am always happy to participate in a language exchange. Do you speak another language? I am always excited to learn new phrases in order to navigate daily life in a local language.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I have previously worked with school children of all ages and am very comfortable in both group and one-on-one scenarios. When teaching, I am prepared to work from an existing curriculum while adding engaging activities and cultural elements from my own experience. Should you need help with day to day tasks managing your NGO, I am well versed in data collection and analysis, graphic design, and social media and can use these skills to help market your NGO, improve your development outreach, and carry out project management. Finally, I am very extroverted and people-oriented having previously worked in customer service will thrive in people oriented roles.

I am passionate about football (and especially love watching women’s football) and will play any chance I get! I am also getting back into creative hobbies. I recently taught myself to crochet and I am currently learning to knit. And even though I am a city girl at heart, I absolutely love escaping to be in nature whether hiking a mountain, visiting a beach, or some other type of adventure!
